What Makes A Good MP?

frankly if a person has all the ideals...

you think SGPlians will still vote for him/her?

or they prefer to vote for PAP who can make their HDB flats go higher.....higher......higher...

sad isn't it?

My flat already paid up in full. You don't see me being exceptionally pro PAP.

I bought 4 room in 2004 for 125k paid in full. Now market 360k.
Bought condo in 2006 for 500k. Now market 700k.

But if the property market in Mainland crashes. Even PAP also cannot buffer the shock waves.

The paper gain will just evaporate overnight.

What we need is social safety nets which is lacking in Singapore.

A good opposition MP is one who can use his power base to further the Opposition Cause.

Period.

This is because there may be a visible difference in the quality of opposition wards vis-a-vis PAP wards. Thus the opposition MP need to justify his residents' faith by being a catalyst towards a two-party system or at the extreme least, one-third majority in Parliament.

25 years imples, frankly, an ineffective catalyst.

A good PAP MP is one who is willing to sit in coffee shops, listen and help.

One who is willing to walk the blocks and go up the stairs to see if the Town Council is not doing its job.

One who goes beyond the Meet-The-People session and feedback from the grassroots organizations to actually meeting the people informally and encouraging informal feedback.

Well the signs of an impending GE is coming but what are the opposition doing? Are they stocking up their ammo? Or do they just intend to show their faces only come election? If that is the case, how do they expect to be elected when no one knows who are they.

To get into parliament, act Garung during rally.

To survive in parliament, show a stunned face when rebuked with a difficult question.

One important point is to think before you shoot words like "lesser mortal"

"for the people, by the people".

that's a common tagline used by many. but sometimes the people might not know what they want. that's the issue.
