What is taking people so long to redeem their Singapore tourism vouchers?

only about 530,000 Singaporeans have used their vouchers, with more than three-quarters of the S$320 million credits remaining unused as of Mar 1.

Even now, with just three months left to use the vouchers, it appears that many people I know have not even started making the most of this incentive, short of having a vague plan to eventually use the S$100 to offset a hotel staycation where they can hibernate or go on a cruise.

As for taking the time to go on tours or visit attractions - many are not even considering it, unless they have children they need to keep entertained.

Some of the most common reasons (or excuses) for being so slow to redeem their vouchers include wanting to avoid attractions overrun with families with children, that they have not yet found something they would like to do or simply because they think Singapore is boring.

To be fair, there is a grain of truth in these critiques. Not every attraction in Singapore is necessarily inspiring, even when one is bored to the point of tears.

Isn't that the whole idea? Make it as difficult as possible for people to redeem them (go online, pick package from approved ticket sellers, use Singpass to verify). And if the ticket costs $32 for example, $40 worth of vouchers will be deducted... essentially $8 worth of vouchers got makan'ed.

Either you PAP technocrats are so stupid that you couldn't foresee this, or it was part of your cunning plan all along.

By the way, a large portion of the 'fun-seeking' mood is gone when wearing a mask. Many people don't like that.

If you want to prop up your beleaguered tourism industry, keep pushing those experimental vaccines, bring in more Indians for 'Stay Hotel Notice' quarantine staycations and some people with more money than sense might buy that overpriced SIA food.

First, make it so difficult to apply must go internet to book with Singpass.Second, u only can book approved selected places ,very restricted.Third, voucher cover only the hotel fee or entrance fee, no food and drinks,so have to come out extra money. This scheme is doomed to failure from start. The scholars only good in planning in the office but they don't know what is the outside world. Come on,now this covid-19 pandemic,u still want the people to come out extra cash to visit these local tourist sites ??? Really no brains.U don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand this situation.

The places of interest in Singapore are not interesting
The places of attraction are not attractive.

You don't lose a single cent for not redeeming the $100.00. In fact, you would spend less and save more not to go these unintetesting and unattractive places

The vouchers should also be applicable on those pap-approved brothels in Geylang.
On another note, do those approved brothels have fotos of our Minah president and her hubby hung on the wall at the reception?
