I have 2 friends who have been diagnosed with bipolar. I am not a psychologist but I just want to share what I know about them

When I knew them, both were uni students around 19~21 years old and have been diagnosed since their teens

do they cheat and lie also

do they cheat and lie also

No they don't

One of them (the lesbo) has a dominant personality and likes to bitch about people behind their backs

The other girl is depressive and breaks down easily

Very different personalities... but equally disturbed

I think I got bipolar disorder leh. I got some of the symptom...

Everyday is also is a challenge for me as I have to hide my wife from my mistress and vice versa. My mood swing to both extreme end when I meet my wife (depression) or my mistress (become sex manic) leh. My energy level, judgment, memory, concentration, appetite, sleep patterns, sex drive, and self-esteem also differ depending who I'm with. But I think I'm improving due to proper self-help. Since I have been with my mistress for 6 months now, I am less of a sex manic and energy level has lowered to an acceptable level.

Called it bipolar, manic depression or whatever...all mental illness stemmed from one source, originating from a defective personality that leads to complusive character defects that creates havoc to their lives and those around them.

Are these solutions used called medication and counselling effective?

You be my guest to bet your last buck on the success rate of such illness to have a means to be successfully cured or controlled, you had better buy TOTO or 4D ,on that last buck you have left!

A pathological liars are completely aware that their lies are obvious. Its an inherent character flaw. Can't be helped. Experts tend to lump them under bipolar disorder more for convenience and to be politically correct rather than tell them that it is incurable.

Religion tends to be the best approach as it allows them to carry a normal persona at least cosmetic wise. Overtime, it becomes a learned behaviour. Its does benefit society as they are become better engaged with society.

Bipolar disorder tagged is the most convenient label as its covers a wide range of symptons. In developed countries, sportmen caught cheating, politicians caught taking bribes, public figures caught in compromising positions generally go to a psychiatrist and the end result will be bipolar disorder.

If you attend any court case involving medical experts, the defence will invariably engage an emminent psychiatrist that will provide a favourable report for the defendent and a disorder will be identified and medication prescribed. The son of ex MI Neil Montfiore's was also found to suffer from the same.

If you ever get caught in any anti-social inicdent such as shoplifting, go straight to Adam Road Hospital. Guarantee you that the sentence will so much lighter and don't be surprised that AG might not even proceed.

Ah Guan....i know personally of a lady friend about the same age too, suffers from this bipolar disorder. she a has very unconventional view on relationship and is a compulsive liar and her lies are so obvious, that we did not want to exposed so as not to embarass her. Currently on medication to control her mood and hopefully her behaviour. Like your 2 friends she is academically way above average....Just hope she recognises her problem and resolves to control it.

Edward Norton was born to take up any role that involves a flawed mind. The guy is a classic. His eyes are unique.

Another movie on the subject is "Primal Fear", also starring Richard Gere, and Edward Norton. Even more spot on and even more scary.

Yes, I think that the only other one his match is John Malkovich. Anyway, perhaps Ris Low is showing potential to be a match for Uma Thurman in "Final Analysis". How about a new Hollywood production for her, "Bipolar Disorder"?

I consider John Malkovich as one of the greatest character actors of our time.

Lets put it this way, good luck to anyone who employs here, dates her, marries her or has her as friend. This is one lady who never had a moral compass to begin with.

I agree with you. Depression or anti-social behaviour could well be resultant of the person's upbringing ... not really an inherent mental condition. Medication would only suppress the problem and not cure it.

One emerging problem with developed countries now is the free use of lifestyle drugs manufactured by big pharma companies

In the last 2 years alone we have seen celebrities like Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson overdose on these prescribed antidepressents they are so addicted to.

I hope the ministry of health keeps this problem in check and not succumb to pressures from big pharma companies to allow them here

Interesting. Confirms my suspicion that clinical psychology is still in its infantile stage after so many decades.

Maybe next year christian exorcism will become the best cure for bipolar disorders

Not many people are aware that Psychology is based on mathematics and statistics. It is used extensively in case studies to build profiles which isolates certain personalities and their behaviour. The same approach is then applied to treatment that works and those that does not work. Treatment in this case, is counselling.

Till today alot of people are not aware that Psychologist are not medical people and can't tell the difference between one and a psychiatrist.

No, I am skinny and not suffering from any disorder or diet related medical conditions.

And my secret to share,is my daily intake of bi-Polar sweet sugar rolls cures all maniac depressions after a hard day at work.

Haha that's nice dude, and on your alleged horizontal abundance we know you ain't really that too but do try out the cream puffs sometimes as they're pretty good and it's real damn hard to find good cream puffs or even cream puffs at all in your sunny Singapore.

As Pythagoras once proclaimed: "all things are numbers."

As if you are only exceptional one who is so fully aware of information that is like yesterday's bread. Pah!
