Xenforo might be different from vBulletin, but there are surely tools in place to permanently ban disruptive members and put new monikers under moderation.

Other than that I believe in managing this place with a light touch ... that's what makes it so different from other sites where the moral police is constantly breathing down your neck. (Not just the PAP-linked sites; many American forums bar sexist, racist and anti-Jewish comments.)

There are tools but the mods don't seem to have the capability to ban members the way they could in vbulletin. I am looking for plug ins that modify the controls. Xenforo 2.0 is out in beta mode and hopefully it will be more feature rich.

Thanks Sam, appreciate everything that you are doing on this.

It’s certainly much better than the previous platform. Love the alerts, likes, media copy features etc.

There are a few issues with xenforo but nothing that would stop members from visiting or posting. In fact posting media is even easier eg embedding vids, images etc is now a breeze.

Most of the issues are around moderation tools. They are different from vbulletin in the interests of reducing server load as much as possible. Vbulletin hogged server resources and xenforo reduced load considerably but in doing so did away with features the generated lots of database queries.

1. Thread ban: where user can be banned from replying to thread. It's thread specific and will not stop trolls from dragging every single thread into the cesspool, sub-type permanent or temporary.
2. Spam ban: where user is deemed as spammer and threads/messages are deleted. User will be banned, no idea whether it's a permanent ban or temporary.
