Took down 2.7% of votes inspite of the whole WP leadership campaigning
Despite the involvement of Lee Hsien Loong, Khaw Boon Wan, Teo Chee Hean, Heng Swee Keat, Lim Swee Say and others, and despite the 'scandals' that were dug up about WP, at the end of the day Desmond Choo only improved by 145 votes on his last result.
145 measly votes!
What does the PAP have to say about that?
They made a serious strategic error, and they need to explain to their supporters why they made this mistake yet again!
The entire PAP big wigs showed up and Desmond still kena walloped for the 2nd successive year.. Thats worst.

While the mainstream media kept harping about the percentage gain by DC, they did not want to let readers know that only over 140 additional votes were gain.This gain is sorely pathetic and politically, totally insignificant at best.
As with everyone else, including political analysts, it is a fact that the DPM miscalculated badly and have all his tactics clearly backfired, enabling WP to surge past the 60 % mark to the surprise of even WP Chairman Sylvia Lim and with DC capturing just 100 plus additional votes despite putting up his best, including public weeping.
It is strange that despite being well-versed in military strategies as assumed by his ex-navy chief position, he could come up with a strategy that clearly are self-inflicted ,unworkable and almost comical. It is also quite reputably very embarassing for him to lose the battle of wits to Low Thia Khiang, whom is not a military man and who do not hold high post.
It is abit like Zhou Yu vs Zhu Geliang in the Three Kingdoms.
His fustration to lose to Low in intelligence and wits was clearly visible during the interview just after the election results was out with a spontaneous retort of legal actions to Low and the following day interview which he said he was 'surprised' by the Wp chief's "combative stance.
My guess is that there was a possibility that the miscalculation came from grassroots leaders who fed the camp with totally wrong intelligence reports.

Agree with you on all points except the above. Miscalculation came from 'research officers' from our domestic intel agency. Not grassroots leaders.
