What does this sort of news say about India?

China is not an expansionist, even the US have classified them as such in a military report 2 yrs back. The reason why they have disputed terrorities with so many countries is becoz they have borders with so many countries.

And if U are referring to the Diaoyu Island incident as "power to pressurize disregarding international laws", Malaysia and SG did the same thing during the the Pedra Branca incident The Taiwanese and Hongkies also constantly send ships to the island to stake their claim does that make them any more expansionist then the Chinese?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Good retort. Just look at what that simpsons fucker wrote. Racist. By critisizing the way shitland handles these matters i'm a racist. You see with them there's always this common focal point. You chide or critique indians for their bad organizing of the cw games, you're a racist. You know that india's minorities suffer under them which is not even surprising since they treat regular indians like shit and you mention that you're a racist again. Mind you shitland has expansionist ideas. Why else would they fight with pakistan over kashmir and with china and even they give sri lankans problems. Yet of course you cannot call them racist for doing that but it's okay if it's the opposite.

Oh yeah you know what they call ppl for saying that china won the border war with india? Racists.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES: TOP BRIT ATHLETES GET THE RUNS

ABOVE: Commonwealth Games: Weightlifter Zoe Smith has avoided the bug
1st October 2010 By Tom Savage
DOZENS of Brit athletes have been hit with a vomiting bug days before the Commonwealth Games begin.

Competitors are said to be “dropping like flies” with the virus at a training camp before they travel to Delhi.

Welsh pole vaulter Bryony Raine, 24, said many athletes had missed key training sessions ahead of the competition.

She said: “Many members of Team Wales are currently out with illness. When we arrived the Scottish swimmers were suffering from a bug and it has spread to our team.

“England’s athletes arrived on Monday night and the first few cases are being reported within their group.”

Many athletes have been preparing for the Delhi games at a training camp in Doha, Qatar.

They include sprinter Mark Lewis-Francis, 28, and diver Tom Daley, 16. All competitors are expected to arrive in the Indian capital before the weekend.

The bug is the latest blow for the Games in the wake of reports surrounding the athletes’ village.

A Team Wales spokesman confirmed there was a bug. But a spokesman for Team England said: “No-one has had anything that is going to affect their performance.”

room look clean, but some does not work

Fears the athletes' accommodation at the Commonwealth Games would not be ready have largely been allayed of late, but at least one smaller nation found their digs not up to scratch.

The Samoan netball team arrived Tuesday morning Delhi-time to find their accommodation was so far from being ready, they were forced to bunk in a hotel for a night.

When they finally did arrive at the Athletes' Village on Wednesday captain and Waikato-Bay of Plenty midcourter Frances Solia's room had no running water.

"It was interesting," she told Stuff.co.nz.

"I kind of prepared myself for something like it, but I wasn't quite sure, especially after going to Melbourne.

"Melbourne did such an awesome job, I wasn't expecting it to be as good but I was expecting my shower and sink to work."

It's yet another black mark on a Delhi games that needs things to start going right.

The Samoans weren't overly fazed by the inconvenience, but locals are desperate for things to go right and for the world to know all the hiccups have finished.

Yesterday Solia was still forced to use a team-mate's room to bathe as attempts to fix the problems had failed.

"The good thing is the toilets are working," she joked.

Solia also had a bat fly into her room, but the 34-year-old just laughed about saying she had more important things on her mind, like playing the world champion Australians in their first game on Monday afternoon (NZ time).

"Yep, straight into it," she said.

"It's good, I mean, we've got to play them sometime."

While Solia's room was far from perfect, she said the training facilities were.

The Linda Vagana-coached side had their first training run at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex on Thursday and Solia said the earlier fears of the court falling apart were rubbish.

Metro to JLN Stadium Just Hours Before the Games?
NEW DELHI | SEP 30, 2010

Delhi Metro's Central Secretariat- Badarpur corridor, which provides connectivity to the main Commonwealth Games venue, is likely to be operational just hours before the event begins on Sunday.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will inspect the line for two days beginning tomorrow.

The 21-km line that connects Central Delhi with some of the densely-populated areas of South Delhi, close to Haryana border, has already missed its deadline and will reach only till Sarita Vihar.

Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety R K Kardam, who received documents relating to the inspection of the line from Central Secretariat to Sarita Vihar yesterday, said he will inspect the line tomorrow and on Saturday.

Metro decided to inaugurate the line till Sarita Vihar as some work on the stretch from Sarita Vihar-Badarpur is still pending. The small stretch is likely to be opened 10 days later.

"I have received the papers for the inspection of the Badarpur corridor. I will be inspecting the line on Friday and Saturday," he told PTI.

With the inspection to be held till Saturday, DMRC will be able to inaugurate the line to public only on Sunday provided it gets the mandatory safety certificate from the CMRS.

Even if the CMRS gives his clearance on Saturday, the line will be opened on Sunday, which means the line will be operational just hours before the Games begin. The opening ceremony of the Games will be held on Sunday evening.

Besides providing connectivity to JLN Stadium, the Metro will reach 10 of the 11 stadias.

This is the third line where DMRC has failed to meet its deadline. The earlier lines where it missed the deadlines were the Yamuna Bank-Noida City Centre and the Central Secretariat-Qutub Minar corridors.

The line got delayed due to Delhi Metro's worst-ever accident at Zamrudpur in South Delhi on July 12, 2009. Seven persons were killed when a bridge collapsed during the construction of the corridor.

Meanwhile, the showcase Airport Express Metro Line is also likely to miss its Commonwealth Games deadline as the CMRS has asked the DMRC for some clarifications regarding certain deficiencies.

The 22-km high-speed corridor that will connect the city's shopping hub of Connaught Place with the Indira Gandhi International Airport was scheduled to be opened to the public before the Games.

The consortium led by Reliance Infrastructure, which is the concessionaire responsible for the corridor, is yet to conduct speed trials which are necessary for the clearance.

Kardam had sought clarifications yesterday regarding certain deficiencies observed in this line. DMRC sources said they have forwarded those to the consortium for implementing the same.

As the trains on the line will run at a speed of 120 km per hour, CMRS has been insisting on the conduct of speed trials on the line. But the trial could not be conducted on this line so far by the concessionaire.

Kardam today said he has not yet received the additional papers he has sought from the Metro.

ew Delhi struggles to escape Beijing's shadow

GUANGZHOU: Stunning venues, near-flawless organisation and a table-topping performance: China dazzled the world with a 2008 Olympics that leaves India’s troubled Commonwealth Games in the shade.

New Delhi’s Commonwealth Games have been tagged the “Shame Games” by local media after a shambolic run-up to Sunday’s opening that has reinforced the nation’s reputation for inefficient bureaucracy, poor infrastructure, graft and squalor.

India’s travails are a far cry from southern China’s Guangzhou, where up to 12,000 athletes from 45 nations are expected to attend the Asian Games in November, two years after the Beijing extravaganza.

In glaring contrast to India, Guangzhou is quietly going about finishing preparations for the Asian Games — the world’s biggest sporting event after the Olympics.

Wu Yucheng, an official at the government’s Guangdong Sports Bureau, said he was aware of the problems in Delhi but declined to elaborate.

“We have been planning for the Asian Games for seven years. So we started our preparation early. We have invested a lot of money in the Games and the city infrastructure,” he said.

“In Guangzhou, you can look around and you will see that a lot of things are happening. Every day you see new changes in the city.... It is not only about the Games, but it is about the city.”

Fifty-eight venues have been refurbished for the Asian Games and 12 more have been built from scratch. Finishing touches are being applied a month in advance, while venue personnel are in place, testing equipment and learning their roles.

Taking pride of place is the huge, gleaming Guangzhou Olympic Centre for track and field, swimming and equestrian events.

Other competitions will be held at a brand new Asian Games Town in a semi-rural part of the city, while the opening ceremony will take place at a newly-built amphitheatre in the Pearl River skyscraper district.

Against this, the multi-sport Commonwealth Games teetered on the brink of collapse last week as some nations threatened to pull out amid worries about security, a bridge collapse and the standard of accommodation and venues.

Problems with the Delhi Games also include an outbreak of mosquito-borne dengue fever and doubts about transport, fire and evacuation procedures and medical services.

All this has dashed the hopes of the country of a billion-plus people of showcasing itself as an emerging power and delivering an event to rival Beijing, analysts say.

Concern about the negative impact was expressed by a leading Indian business lobby group.

“It is a sad state of affairs indeed and, psychologically, puts a question mark against India’s capacity to deliver,” said Amit Mitra, general secretary of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

But there are signs that things are coming together at the last minute as hundreds of competitors arrived this week to take up residence in the much-criticised athletes’ village. As many as 5,000 athletes from 71 nations and territories formerly linked to the British Empire are expected.

It would also be a mistake to characterise Beijing’s experience as flawless and it is too early to say whether there will be any last-minute glitches at the Asian Games.

Beijing enjoyed a huge boost to its infrastructure through developments such as new subway lines, but has struggled to find a role for iconic venues such as the Bird’s Nest stadium and the Water Cube aquatics centre.

Wu said both Guangzhou and Beijing had taken a comprehensive view of organisational issues and admitted there had been problems in the run-up to the Asian Games.

The deputy secretary general of the Asian Games’ organising committee, Gu Shiyang, underlined planning and local support as key factors.

“Good planning is one factor, but the most important factor is the support from the government and the citizens as well as state-owned enterprises and private enterprises, the support and participation from all walks of life.

“The educational considerations are also very important. We have 50,000 volunteers for the Asian Games. Most of these volunteers are from the colleges and universities. And also we have 500,000 city volunteers.”

He said in the coming weeks all venue teams would be doing rehearsals and drills to make sure their venues operated smoothly. -AFP

Five-star Hotels Assist in Cleaning CWG Village
Oct 01, 10

New Delhi: Bringing heavy duty equipment and expert staff, top five-star hotel chains, including the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, are helping in the last-minute massive clean-up drive at the Commonwealth Games Village, officials said.

The hotel chains have come in along with their large housekeeping departments to help in cleaning the rooms at the athlete's village for the Games beginning Oct 3. "Heavy duty equipment have been moved in by five-star hotel chains," a diplomatic source said here Tuesday.

"Several flats had 'pan' (betel nut) stains. It was difficult to remove them with normal cleaning detergents," a CWG Organising Committee official said.

With all the teams set to arrive by Friday, officials are keeping their figures crossed and hoping that the village rooms will be ready before Friday. "We hope that with the hotel chains helping out, the rooms will be soon cleaned up," the official added.

The Games Village has faced a lot of criticism over the state of the residential zone - with photos of pan-stained bathrooms, muddy beddings and crumbling flats splashed all over the media.

It led to a massive outcry, after which the CWG Organising Committee along with the Delhi government had to finally scramble to get their act together for the cleaning up process.

The issue became further dire after diplomats of the Commonwealth nations got access to the residential zone over the last weekend.

We (India) will host the best ever Commonwealth Games.

http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/repor...arrives-1250-check-in-amid-2-pullouts_1445795

With 7200 athletes expected to take part in the Games, more than two-thirds have reached the Indian capital.

After weeks of negative press, the mood began to turn positive with visiting athletes expressing satisfaction with the improvements at the Games Village, which had been at the center of a row over cleanliness just a few days ago.

In fact, Delhi's Lt governer Tejinder Khanna even went to the extent of saying that the Village was good enough to host an Olympics.

"The Games Village that we have is the finest ever and is ready to host the Olympics or any other multi-discipline world class meet. I am not the only one saying this. Many foreign delegates during their visit were so impressed with our facility that they have told me that we should bid for Olympics now," Khanna said.

There was more talk of bringing the biggest sporting show to India from Kalmadi himself despite being heavily criticised for the crisis-hit build-up to the Commonwealth Games.

"The biggest legacy (of CWG) is Olympics. Cricket is the most popular sport in our country but it is played by just 10 countries. Olympics has all sports. We have to ensure that Olympics come up. This is our opportunity and CWG will help," Kalmadi said.

Earlier in the week Indian activists, upset with what they claimed were racist remarks by the Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive, Mike Hooper, had burned an effigy of the New Zealander and shouted slogans. Carrying placards that said "Racist Hooper Go Back", they claimed that Hooper had reportedly made remarks blaming the Indian population for poor preparation that included incomplete venues and unlivable conditions at the athletes' village when some delegations began arriving last week. Hooper has denied making any offensive remarks.

Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive Mike Hooper denied that his organisation was partly to blame for problems in the lead-up to the Delhi Games and said the fault lay with India. Hooper, a New Zealander, told Television New Zealand that while the federation was the supreme authority and pushed for deadlines to be met, it was powerless to get projects completed on time, with the event just a week away.

300-plus doctors at Games, but not a single sports medicine expert
Published: Thursday, Sep 30, 2010
By DNA Correspondent |

Athletes participating in the Commonwealth Games should take extra care to avoid injuries, as of the 325 doctors roped in for the mega event none is a sports medicine expert.

Medical experts from Sports Authority of India (SAI), who are trained to treat athletes, are conspicuously missing from the list of doctors prepared by the Games organising committee (OC) and the Delhi government.

Most of the doctors on the list are from government hospitals in the national capital.

Sources attributed the oversight to an ego clash between Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the ministry of sports. OC draws its power from IOA, while SAI works under the sports ministry.
“OC, which comprises IOA top brass, wants to prove that it can manage things without the services of SAI,” an official on the committee said.

Another OC official, also a sporting federation chief, said, “The ministry never allowed us to bid for the 2019 Asian Games. IOA has already declared itself an autonomous body. Why should we take SAI’s help? We don’t need them at all.”

The animosity arose after sports minister MS Gill tried to restrict the careers of all sports federation bosses to a maximum three terms and put an age cap of 70 years on them.

“This is a sporting event, not a family affair. Sports injuries are bound to crop up. How can they ignore sports medicine experts?” PSM Chandran, president of Indian Federation of Sports Medicine, said, adding that a list of SAI doctors was sent to OC as early as in January.

It is not only SAI doctors who have been ignored. DNA has learnt that OC also kept away sports medicine experts from the army and the railway sports control board.

Ambulances for the venues have also not been finalised. “A private hospital sent sample ambulances to OC. But they sat on the proposal.

Now, they have no alternative but to hire government ambulances, creating a shortage in government hospitals.”

150 Ayurveda doctors from Kerala selected for Commonwealth Games
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 3, As many as 150 junior Ayurveda doctors have been selected as masseurs for the Commonwealth Games to be held during October in New Delhi.

Talking to UNI today, Thiruvananthapuram Ayurveda Medical College Principal Dr P K Ashok said, ''the selection of doctors from the State by the Commonwealth authorities is regarded as a great achievement for Kerala, which is the only State in India to practices this system of medicine with absolute dedication.'' This was the first time that Ayurveda doctors had been included as masseurs in a Commonwealth Game and the entire team has been selected from Kerala, he added.

''A two-day seminar is being held here in which as many as 40 foreign experts are providing training on pressure application for relaxing, for warming up muscles before a sporting event and more,'' he said.

As part of the final selection process, the doctors, who attened the training session, would be tested through a written examination ahead of the Game, he said.

Later, they would be given intense training in sports medicine in New Delhi, he added.

The selection process, which began four months ago, was based on directions from the Games Directorate and the Delhi Government, he said.
