Throughout my years of working experience , either working with foreign MNCs or local listed companies, it is quite clear that the I.T department is full of socially awkward and rude assholes.

There’s always this misconception that they lack the self awareness and hence offend people unknowingly. I found that to be untrue. It’s just in their nature to be natural assholes. They think that their technical expertise makes them far superior to the rest

It’s always shifting the blame around or citing SLA. Don’t be surprised if u are asked to wait one month for a thumb drive. Haha!

Any different experiences encountered by u guys? Surprise me!

IT nerds are usually socially awkward. Same for engineers (proper ones, not 'sales engineers'). Accept them for what they are and don't judge.

They're usually very honest and won't stab you in the back. Yes is yes and no is no. However, all bets are off when it comes to ah nehs, whom I've never encountered thankfully.

KNN it depts handle their customers differently for internal customers and external KNN becas you are a cost to the company so as a internal customer you are at their mercy whereas external customer is dai sai KNN

Haha actually IT department itself is a fucking cost.

These clowns are always upgrading infra and security and backups. Sure those are essential but these imbeciles are definitely not the ones bringing the bacon home.

Very true but they do have expert power lol

KNN blame the company itself KNN IT helpdesk agents kpis are measured based on the call volumes and number of case close per month KNN this will result in them closing cases without solving your problem KNN you log a new case they close it again and again KNN

Generally speaking, IT guys interact well with machines and gadgetry but becomes somewhat socially awkward when dealing with people because these people can ask questions, talk back, scold them or even bully them.

IT Dept itself is a very broad term. You can be talking about desktop support, network support or infrastructure backbone support. And all three overlap each other to an extent.

often these are driven from risk management or regulatory perspective so lan lan no choice have to do. Particularly so in big fsi organizations that are highly regulated.

I am your IT asshole :)

It's the same with HR.It's an expense which is probably why they're outsourced.
Like Blackmondy correctly points out, IT is broad and multidisciplinary. There are limitations in specific areas. If you ask an IT specialist they'll say users paid for a proton saga but expect Ferrari performance. It cuts both ways.
