Singaporeans will get top priority in 2010. Singaporeans will come first in 2010. Despite their inability to strive and lack of drive, the govt will now go out of their way to help these Singaporeans. I've never seen any other govt so filled will kindness and generousity to go out of their way to help undeserving citizens. Scholarships have mainly been given to mainland chinese and indians so that they can study in our universities stress free so that they can do well. Some Locals esp those from poor family who lack drive and inability to strive have to work during school holidays or give tuition or take up study loans to go through university. Does putting Singaporeans 1st means a stop to these schemes? I hope not because it will violate the rights of foreign students studying here - we need them badly because without their contributions Singapore will sink.
Also, Singaporeans have to serve out NS. This is an arrangement to bring about balance because Singaporeans don't contribute enough to their country. NS is a chance for them to catch up in terms of contributions compared with those of foreign talents who do not get this chance. Foreign talents because of their high value contribution to Singapore do not have to do those reservist duties. Putting Singaporeans 1st means we have to preserve this system otherwise lazy Singaporeans will fall behind in their contributions yet again.
I hope the govt put priority in solving some of the more urgent problems of Singaporeans such as ageing. Earlier last year, Minister Khaw put forth a practical and cost saving solution which is to ship old folks into Johor nursing homes. I hope the govt put 1st priority in this wonderful solution - old folks who have little economic contribution should not occupy land in Singapore and penalise the rest of Singaporeans.
The govt should go full steam ahead with its labor policies - better known as CHEAPER, BETTER and FASTER. Singaporeans are overpaid because they don't strive hard enough so they BETTER become CHEAPER FASTER.
There were many grouses about high cost of living. The obvious solution to this as explored by the PAP govt is "no-frills housing" an euphemism for slums that was discussed middle of this year by the parliamentary committee. Because Singaporeans have become less hard striving, they can no longer afford regular HDB housing. By putting Singaporeans 1st and building these slums, we can bring about a resolution to the housing problem. The slums are to have no amenities like playground, gardens, covered walkways - the spartan environment will serve to remind Singaporeans of the need to strive harder otherwise they will be left out in the Singapore success story.
