Yeah know why they need to import FTs now?

Because FTs are mentally more healthy than Singaporeans so we badly need them.

We are all going nuts!

SINGAPORE - A study by Singapore Mental Health has revealed that Major Depressive disorder is the most common mental illness in Singapore.

According to the study, led by the Institute of Mental health, 12 per cent of people in Singapore will have some kind of mental disorders in their lifetime.

Major Depressive disorder ranked the most common with 1 in 16 people suffering from it.

Alcohol abuse ranked the second most common with 29 people suffering from it while Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ranked third.

With the illnesses hitting patients at a young age, majority suffer from it by the time they are 29 years old.

However, The Straits Time reported that most sufferers do not seek help. Those suffering from depression wait for an average of four years before seeking help.

It takes 13 years for someone who abuses alcohol to do so.

The national daily reported that many who are mentally ill are also physically ill.

The survey of over 6,600 Singaporeans and permanent residents was conducted in 2010.

The Singapore Mental Health Study, a three-year, $6.9-million nationwide study, is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind here.

when you always try to follow up the rules, keep the rules to yourself. This unnatural behaviour will spill over to your private life. And you also starts behaving like that in your family and private life.

Parents will scold their young if the young did not follow the rules or cannot keep up with the parent's demands.. why? because if the parents make any mistake in life.. they are punished by the govt and too coward to fight back.

This cowardice is being spilled over to their children.. Some one in the forum say that married a sinkie will create the next generation of cowards.. he is not entirely incorrect.

if you lead your life daily behaving like that, you give yourself unnecessary stress.. That is why i say , when i avoid sinkie, i am much happier and more smiles on my face.

Rules and law should be there to improve the society. IT is not there to screw you up unjustly and being take advantage upon by the govt.. I wonder if sinkies understand this logic.
Being a coward give you unduly stress.. live free and live courageously and bravely.. it will bring your health back instantly.

This seems about right. Either the Americans who spend more on this research have wasted their money and need lessons on how to do it right, or the other way round.

For just clinical depression, 11-15% will get this in his/her lifetime, according to a study of rich and poor countries. (89,000 people compared to 6,600 in this study).
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21791035

For Singapore, it is just 12% for ANY mental illness. This $6.9M study, if true, may suggest Singapore city has got special properties that result in less mental illness! Would love to hear what the world experts think of this amazing finding. It might just be the justification to continue to spend less on this type of healthcare. Less is more! That is of course assuming this study is not B.S.

isn't it time for one of our bros to make his grand entrance ?

USA set their bar higher. Just like 2k for their poverty line. Craziness in the US leads to innovativeness. Peesai probably got more mental problem cases. The last I check it was 60% and this leads to the 40% being suicidal..

No need to wonder. Such a simple concept is obviously beyond the ken of most Sinkies.

The figure of 1 in 16 is way too low to be believable, People who report depression will soon be out of job because employers perceive them to be workplace hazards. Our "union" will not fight for their rights because it is a supermarket. In addition, it takes money to see a shrink and receive treatment. For these two reasons alone, people will not report depression. With existence in this shithole becoming more and more unbearable, more people will fall into depression.

Krafty, are you reading this? ;)

Upz!

And the same could be argued for the unemployment rate.
