Tang Liang Hong is a senior lawyer and politician from Singapore. He was born in 1935 to parents who came from agricultural backgrounds. He speaks three local languages.

In the 1997 elections in Singapore, Tang ran as a candidate for the Workers' Party in the Cheng San GRC (group representation constituency).

After the election, Tang Liang Hong faced thirteen defamation suits from PAP Ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs) - including the Senior Minister, the Prime Minister, and his two deputies. It has been alleged that the suits were filed because Tang called the PAP ministers and MPs liars when they had labelled him anti-Christian, a Chinese chauvinist, and a dangerous man. Thirteen judgments were entered against him for defamation.

Tang left Singapore for Johor after receiving death threat letters. He subsequently also faced charges from the Inland Revenue Department for evading taxes. His wife's passport was impounded but later released. Eventually, Tang found refuge in Australia, where he was reunited with his wife.

After Tang left Singapore, the plaintiffs obtained the Mareva injunction against him to restrain him from disposing of assets and to require him to disclose the whereabouts of his assets. When Tang failed to file an affidavit disclosing his assets, the plaintiffs obtained default judgements against Tang in all their suits. Damages were assessed by a judge of the High Court at a total of $8,075,000.

Tang's appeals against the default judgments were argued by an eminent British Queen's Counsel, Charles Gray, before the Court of Appeal in September 1997. Judgment has been reserved at the time of writing.

1) We are Malaysian mean we must respect Malay Supremacy and maybe by feeling is rule over and force Malay power upon other races. "If Malay are not successful and developed, then they are not tuan (masters).

2) We are Singaporean mean we must remain British English Speaking Statues as Elite and maybe by feeling is rule over and force Elite power upon other fellow citizen.

3) But Mr Tang and other Chinese speaking support said we are Singaporean mean we must respect each other culture and religion. We must promote each other culture and religion to meet high standard requirements.

We are Singapore Chinese does not mean we must respect Singapore Chinese Supremacy and maybe by feeling is rule over and force Singapore Chinese power upon other races. This does not mean Singapore Chinese will converted Singapore to another Taiwan in Southeast Asia.

You want create enemy and lose control on behavior during given feedback in Sam's Alfresco Coffee here?

My feedback are come from Chinese Singaporean, Malay Singaporean, Indian Singaporean and Some from Malaysian (Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan National). It is not from me.

You are right. I had go back to Malaysia and support Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan National. That is why you can not meet me in NSP event.

I had my feedback. You had your feedback. So everybody can get the whole picture. Why must you behave like Lee Kuan Yew? So that I must be Tang Liang Hong, JBJ, CSJ, Francis Seow and so on?

Do not forget 1 million voters are ex Malaysian family members.

When I was younger, I used to ask my parents about my grandparents. Who were they? Where did they come from? Why was I darker than most Malay people and yet I spoke the Malay language and not Tamil? Why did some of my extended family members look Chinese and Middle-Eastern?

I remembered my mother explaining to me that my grandfathers came from India, my paternal grandmother was Javanese and that my maternal grandmother was of Malay-Arab mix.
If I were to put it fully on my Identity Card, I am not sure if there would be enough space. If I declared partially, then I would be denying the other parts of me, and that would not be fair. My birth certificate shows that I am an Indian.

During primary school, I was first sent to an Indian language class. I was puzzled. After sometime, I was transferred to a Malay language class. It was a very confusing time for me.

I showed my identity card to some friends during my internship when I was in the European Parliament last year as an intern. They were aghast. “What is this? A Nazi country?” one of them commented. It reminded them of the terrible time that engulfed Europe.

That is how complicated my "racial" identity is. But that is, in a way, a reflection Singapore. It has always been the melting pot of cultures. It is because of that that we get to enjoy various kinds of food. The quaint mixture of Chinese and Malay ingredients gave rise to peranakan cuisine. Then we have dishes like Roti John, a combination of Malay and Indian foods. Even the name is a mixture.

This mish-mash of people is also where we get our Singlish. People of older generations knew more than one language. Indians, Chinese and Malays spoke Singlish and Malay patois.

Later on, I came across people who were like me yet they were declared as “Malay”. They then told me that my grandfather changed his race after independence because if they were Indians they could not get free education and privileges. I didn't know how to respond. Out of hardship and for material gain, people resort to denying a part of them.

Which brings me to the question about race. What relevance does it hold for me? Nothing. The diversity that we have in Singapore is a blessing for us all. It makes us more tolerant of each other's differences. It makes us know more things about the world.

No race is superior. It is just a myth created by those in power to instill intolerance. Aren't there Malay graduates who are just as competent as Chinese and Indian graduates? Aren't there Indian businessmen who are just as rich as a Malay or Chinese businessmen?

In the SDP, we do not focus on race. the colour of our members' skins are not important. Nor is there a need to create a bureau to represent a specific group of people.

Of course, there are still problems that affect specific ethnic groups. These are caused by PAP policies. But when we speak up on these issues, we speak up as a a party, Chinese for Indians, Indians for Malays and Malays for Chinese. We speak as Singaporeans for all Singaporeans. I am confident that it will remain that way.

And through this party, the idea and ideal of Bangsa Singapura - the Singaporean People - will prevail.

Seems like Malaysia has started the ball rolling towards their racial reconcilations with their Ketuanan Rakyat instead of Ketuanan Melayu. The sultans have been backing the wrong horses and likely so in the next GE, they will have a price to pay. These past few years seemed to be very hard on the royalties with their internal squabbles and their loss of dignities amongst the Malays, who traditionally looked up to their sultans with obeisance but now will instead lob a rock at the royalties or lying down on the road barring the royal's procession. Things have changed so much and UMNO is in decline as their "fixed deposit boxes" of safe seats in the East Malaysia are being threatened as well. The systematic looting of the treasury is well known to all now including the normally feeble kampong's folks and that is the catalyst in the new power struggle. The Islamists are not to be feared because they apply their laws onto themselves only and the secularity is guranteed by the constitution.

UMNO's capitulation will weigh heavily on the ability of PAP to conjure its usual magic of getting the upper hands with the BN's govt because all the freebies and braindrains will like to stop now and there.

Now is the most opportune time for the Singaporean's oppos to make inroad if only they can see the bigger picture. Malaysia can exists without Singapore but can Singapore goes on without Malaysia ??? This is the question.

Buddhist and Taoist also want to respect each other culture and religion and promoted own culture and religion. Many free thinker will not agree and say they wanted to convert Singapore to China.

But the real situation, the truth and the fact, when a Buddhist or Taoist want to married free thinker, they had to convert to be a Western Christian and Muslim. It is unfair to say free thinker is right. The fact had to convert a Muslim or Christian when come to conclusion of the married.

If I followed my family's footsteps, I would be in PKMS (it's not called UMNO Singapore anymore, my dear M'sian cousins!). The blood of Malay nationalism runs through my veins. But I'm always one to be that little bit different... =)

Tunku Raham only lend Singapore to LKY for 30 years, not on record but verbally. So can anyone prove that it is correct?
