Dear readers,

In order to cope with our rapid growing readership, we have bought our own domain name www.wayangparty.com

Our blog will be undergoing a few major revamps in the next few weeks to bring you more up-to-date news, hilarious satires and hard-hitting critiques.

The Wayangparty Club is not just a news blog or an internet platform for serious discussion on current affairs.

We do not believe in mere empty talk. Advocacy forms the major part of our work here if you notice. We strongly advocate for a free press, fair elections and a fearless judiciary which are important institutions for safeguard our rights guaranteed under the Constitution.

For the time-being, we will double up as a news blog as well before Singaporekini is set up. We are currently holding discussions with 2 TOC members who counter-propose us sponsoring them to set up a “TOC Youth” instead of crossing over directly.

If you notice, our new design is similar to the old TOC’s. Well, that is ACTUALLY our design when TOC was first set up.

WAYANGPARTY CLUB

I've checked out the new site. Don't quite like it, more to SDP format which I find too tedious in looking for the thread I'm interested in. Hate to say this TOC's format I believe is the reason why it's popular in spite of having people like Tan Kin Lian and Andrew Loh.

The name "wayangparty.com" does not sound professional. "TOC" sounds much more professional and when you get to know the full name "The Online Citizen" it reinforce that impression.

A good name is one in which it reflects readily the message it want to convey to the public.

These are good names:

"Worker's Party": representation of and for the workers

"People's Action Party": representation of and for the people

"Talking Cock": an invitation to fun

"In Dig Nation": no need to say more
In contrast:

"Wayang Party": to the uninitiated, a theatrical group having fun?

Since you are starting out, why not come up with a name that truly reflects your objectives?

On the other hand, these are my impressions only.

(1) Following Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor, you might like to consider "The Intelligent Citizen" (TIC).

This merges well with TOC.

TIC-TOC, TIC-TOC, TIC,TOC.

Catchy.

(2) Locke in his sarcastic reply to one of your posts, suggested "The Active Citizen" (TAC). That is an excellent name. Short and memorable.

(3) You might like to also consider "The Online Expressions" (TOE).

There you have it, Avantas, three new choices:

TIC-TAC-TOE

So I see, just starting out...

To think that you have the audacity to claim established opposition parties for being a wayang show when you are only starting to get involve. Perhaps someday when you do join in the fray and were at the receving ends of endless remarks would you come to realise that you have been too harsh in being an armchair critic.

That explains why TOC and Wayangparty are "one sky and one earth".

Wayangparty started as a Workers Party parody but shifted to become a TOC competitor and Malaysia news site (whom Singaporeans are not really interested in). "Ma zhan" (scold sites) are a waste of time if the blog operators don't "scold" credibly like NotmySDP (notmysdp.blogspot.com) and Young PaynPay (young-pap.blogspot.com)

Maybe their Singaporekini will do better.

doesnt this makes you wonder who is behind wayangparty?

the lack of understanding what is media marketing and image presentation does shows whether people would take the site serious or not.

despite its unpopularity, YPAP's forum is still well visited and despite all the attacks TOC gets, whatever is done right had been done right to attract the right kind of reader towards the right issue.

"wayangparty"? this does sounds more like a theater group and ppl tend to vist such a site once and when found to be not what the titke meant it to be, they wont visit it again.

they wont dare to openly join the fary or even declare who they actually r.

they know that after making so many enemies with their personal attacks, wayangparty will always remain an underground online site and nothing more. coming out in the open would ensure instant failure as now people would know who they really r and that would be the end of any real life career if they had any to start with.

So you have picked up on these chaps as well eh. In between their irreverence and sarcastic bias bent, they do appear to raise some interesting insights at times.

Wayangparty isn't meant to be a serious blog like TOC in the first place though I must admit its critques carry more depth that TOC.

I guess the owners must have thought of changing the name, but since wayangparty has already been so well-known, why change it which will lead to a drop in traffic.

aiyoh, TOC is sponsored by PAP, they have professionals to design and run their blog, how to compare ?

yeah, you are right, i thought wayangparty was ridiculous initially, but a big jump of 482% in traffic in less than a month changes my views of them, in between some nonsensical postings, there are gems to be digged out if you spend them combing the blog.

by and large, i doubt wayangparty will be able to exceed toc in readership, how to compete against the PAP ??
