Waiter faces sex offences

A 25-YEAR-OLD waiter is alleged to have befriended a student to groom her for his sexual pleasure. Poong Foo Yun, 25, is said to have convinced the 13-year-old to bare and massage her breasts in front of him at her home in the west of Singapore on the night of Sept 4, 2008.

He is believed to have returned the next day to get her to expose her chest again and to insert her finger into her private parts. About 1.7m tall and rather plump, Poong is also charged for having five obscene films on his laptop. The maximum sentence for making the teen perform an obscene act is a $5,000 fine and a two-year jail term.

In addition, he could be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed up to 10 years for getting her to penetrate herself. If convicted of sexual grooming, he could face a fine of up to $10,000 and/or a jail sentence of up to three years. The court ordered that the victim not be named.

Poong Foo Yun is accused of chatting with the girl online via the MSN portal on Oct 11, 2008. A month before, Poong is alleged to have met the girl on Sept 4 and allegedly made her expose her breasts to him.

He allegedly returned the next day and again asked her to expose her breasts and made her perform an obscene act on herself.

If convicted of sexual grooming, Poong could be jailed up to three years and fined.

The maximum sentence for making a child perform an obscene act is a $5,000 fine and a two-year jail term.

He can also be jailed up to 10 years and fined for making her perform the obscene act on herself. Besides these charges, Poong is also accused of possessing five obscene films on his computer. He will next appear in court on Aug 16.
