Obama to meet Singapore' Lee Kuan Yew

BOSTON, Massachusetts — President Barack Obama will meet Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew next week, the White House said Friday, as the US leader gears up for his first official visit to Asia.

Obama will host Lee, who now serves as a senior cabinet advisor, at the White House on Thursday, Obama deputy spokesman Bill Burton said on Air Force One.

The US president will leave for Asia on November 11, on a tour which includes the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and a meeting with leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Singapore.

Obama will also visit China, South Korea and Japan on the eight-day trip.

Lee, whose official title is Minister Mentor, served as prime minister of Singapore between 1959 to 1990, and is regarded as an expert on Asian affairs and US relations with the region.

Singapore's founding father is quite English and quite dead, Obama would have to take a train across the Atlantic and about 200 years back in time to meet Sir Stamford Raffles who is our founding father (or so i was told in social studies)
