I don't think we only own 400 missiles. Anyway, sidewinders are shit missiles that need to be shot behind the enemy aircraft and very close range. Not possible in modern warfare

There are effective missile counter measures and protections on warplanes these days. Half of 400 missiles will miss and hit nothing.

Some non-directly hits on smaller planes only damage them, they will survive and return to base to repair and come back to fight. Some hit on large planes are insufficient to destroy them, they will survive and flee alive also. e.g. TU-95, a small missile could just take out one of its many engines. But damaged large planes takes longer recovery time to come back.

400 missiles can expect only to kill 100-150 planes.

Given SAF fucked.up.ness they are expected to kill wrong targets or own RSAF planes among the 100+ kills. Something like friendly fire kill or collateral damages e.g. 10 more MH17s.

Not so simple..Missiles and armaments like bombs. mortar etc had expiry date. If having more in stock only means all the missiles needs to be expended in X years and new one bought to replace the old stocks.

No lar. I doubt the enemy will engage SG in air war. What Vietnam War, Iraq and all the other conflict zones are teaching the world that air superiority does not mean shit. However, our generals need to buy new toys every year to pay tribute like a vassal state
