RSN is only effective anyway as long as there is air coverage from RSAF. If they want to fight far away from the island, they will most likely end up being hamtum by less sophisticated navy of Indonesia. Also do bear in mind that the archipelago is a perfect venue for seaborne guerrilla warfare. Larger frigate might not gain much advantage here.

Former Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) chief of staff and Democratic Party presidential hopeful Pramono Edhie Wibowo has called for Indonesia to ban Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) vessels from entering Indonesia's territorial waters.
"As far as I know, Indonesian warships do not enter Singaporean territorial waters often," said Wibowo. "It is Singapore warships that come into our territorial waters very often. They will have much to lose if we really enforce this.
