The real world "likes" of Vincent Wijeysingha will be a different issue to be addressed at a different time.

We are seeing that an increasing number of people don't give a shit about whether VW is an ah kua. 10K people turned up for the annual gay march. This is 0.2% of Singapore's population.

It doesn't matter whether he gives or doesn't give a shit what we think.

If enough of his potential voters don't like gays or enough of them think that he will spend most of his time clamouring for gay rights, he won't get enough votes to make it into parliament. And if enough of them do, he will.

It doesn't change the fact that he will remain as an intelligent chap with good ideas and who would be an asset to the ordinary people in society which is a great and rare attribute to have in today's world.
While at the same time probably also spending his time promoting gay rights, which in my opinion is a waste of society's time and resources.

It is impossible for a person who engages in anal sex with someone of the same gender to be seen as credible no matter how far you try to stretch the meaning of the word.

If such deviant behavior is accepted as normal, we're on our way down a very slippery slope.

The current Govt thinking is stale and doesn't appeal to the younger Internet fed generation.
It is up to a brave new PM to Co-Opt these men and their ideas to stay relevant.

They did it with Tommy Koh, Ho Kwong Ping etc.

but that wont really buy him votes. I can't think of a GRC or SMC where that would saway voters to vote for him or SDP

I think his sexual orientation is a non-issue. Ultimately, its what he can do as an MP and how well he demolishes his PAP opponent during the next GE. People like him and appreciate his intelligence and sincerity. He did well in GE2011. Its the SDP brand name that might be a little problematic.
