Netizens have labelled him an "attack dog" planted by the People’s Action Party (PAP) to oppose issues raised by Opposition Members of Parliament.

But PAP MP Vikram Nair told The New Paper that he was not, and that he has not been assigned any "role" by his party.

The labels and accusations came in fast and furious online after Mr Nair’s Budget Debate speech on Feb 29.

The speech had addressed in some detail Workers’ Party MP Chen Show Mao’s delivery earlier in that session.

Mr Nair, who admitted in a separate interview that he had gone overboard with his comments, said that the online brickbats have been part of the learning experience.

This is a very expensive breed dog.. He's a lucky dog I must say.. He got a rich Master to take good care of him.. Everyday day his owner will feed him well.. Thats why he's loyal to his Master..
