Malays are ok with this as simple food we used to eat have disappeared.
Sambal/air Assam is the foundation of malay food. With this, we can eat fried or BBQ fish/chicken/ beef with ulam ( Malay salad).
Many types of sambal. Sambal belachan. Sambal machang, sambal limau....
None of the local shops serve this anymore.
A Malay shop eatery should have many varieties of sambal but simple fried, baked fish or chicken. Plus ulam. That's it.
