(Video) Rude Uncle Shames Woman For Working As A Petrol Station Cashier
BY HYPE DESKMAY 30, 2023

With the rising cost of living, it’s not surprising to see youths taking up random jobs they can find to make ends meet. However, a TikTok user recently shared an encounter with a man who shamed her for working a minimum-wage job.
In her video uploaded on TikTok, Izzaty details her experience of being shamed by a man, only referred to as ‘pak cik’ (uncle), while working as a cashier at a petrol station. She shared that the man had visited the petrol station’s store to purchase some drinks. While at the counter, the man started a conversation with the TikToker as she rang up his items.
According to the netizen, the customer had asked her if she finished schooling, to which she replied yes. However, he rudely responded with the assumption that she must have not done well in school, which is why she currently works at a petrol station. The man also asked her why she didn’t resume her studies because she could’ve gotten a better-paying job.
As he left the petrol station, the man once again mocked her, saying her job could only pay about RM1,500 per month. As she shared her story, the girl was on the verge of tears and was visibly upset from the encounter. She added that she felt furious at the customer for his rude comments but tried to remain calm because he was a customer. After the video went up, many netizens commented words of support for the young girl, praising her for being patient when dealing with customers like this. Some also shared stories of similar encounters while they were working their minimum-wage jobs. In her post, the TikTok user also urged viewers not to mock people as they please because you’ll never know what is going on in their lives.

The man’s rude behaviour shows that higher education doesn’t guarantee compassion and kindness. Let’s all use this as a reminder to be more understanding toward those working hard to earn a living.
