ASEAN is chinA's biggest trading bloc. The trade including imports from China is about the same as US. But exports to China is much much more than to the US. Maybe twice the volume.
Without China's significant manufacturing presence selling goods to the US in exchange for printed currency, the US consumers would not have access to affordable products sourced from China's resources, labor, and efforts. China in return buys US treasury bonds
