This is what happens when you let your ego rule over your rational mind. When I first started driving, my dad used tell me to drive defensively: even if you're in the right, just give way, because if an accident arises both are you are inconvenienced, not mention the possibility of injuries or even death.
The truck driver is stupid. He should have cut in much sooner when there is vast clearance instead of inching in like that. For me, I will usually cut in since my tail is already ahead of the car to my right and in order not to frustrate that driver, I'll even step on the accelerator to gain speed in order to blend in with the traffic flow.
Unfortunately, I know that most pussy drivers will drive like that truck driver and it's very irritating.
