What the British paid for was merely a right to establish a trading post. They did not purchase freehold title of the whole Island.

When you come to an agreement with A, it does not mean he can bring B, C, D to the party and then bugger off.

It's so strange that when the m&ds give it away somehow ppl still say that they own it even though they gave it away.

That was why i started this alternate scenerio of china giving away hainan island or HK and wanted to know what ppl's opinions were and surprisingly nobody wanted to answer this very easy to answer question because of the double standards which is if china did it for say hainan island hainan would not be considered as a part of china anymore and no more chinese yet in the same scenerio involving sinkland and mudland somehow sinkland still belongs to the m&ds even though they gave it away.

the Malays are not even the indigenous people of Malaysia and Singapore so people should stop using the indigenous reasoning to justify the Malays' claims to Singapore or to paint a sympathetic picture of the Malays.

only China should return its territories to the so-called indigenous people but the rest of world did no wrong because it was the right of the strongest to rule then. people's opinions can be so biased.
