Standard Chartered S'pore Marathon participant passes away after completing race

A participant of the 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, held on Dec. 1, has passed away after completing the race.
At 5:11pm the event's social media pages
posted a message confirming the passing.
The participant had successfully completed the race, but needed medical attention, according to the post.
Although the participant received treatment onsite, the participant was then transported to Singapore General Hospital, where the participant passed away.
This is the third time someone has passed away after completing a half marathon.
Malcolm Sng Wei Ren, 22, died after completing the 21.1km event in 2011 from acute coronary insufficiency and had an abnormal coronary artery which had been previously undetected, reported

4:30am start time and 55,000 participants
The 2024 edition of the SCSM had over 55,000 participants in a variety of races, from the 42.195km full marathon, to half marathons, as well as 5km and 10km races.
The event has been ongoing since Nov. 29, with the 5 and 10 km races being held on Nov. 30.
The half and full marathons were run on Dec. 1, and it is not clear which race the deceased had run in.
The event's start time was at 4:30am in the morning, with professional athletes expected to finish in just over two hours, and amateur athletes given up to seven and a half hours to finish.
