The whole idea of the sinkie military arms business is to model itself after the Israelis. The SAF requires vast quantity of ammo and weapons for regular and reservist. The development of these weapons are expensive and are not really justified to sell only a few hundred at the most to the local SAF. To defray development costs and recoup some of the money, they enter the weapons business. Unfortunately, they are not battle tested and are worth shit. The money is better spend on education and healthcare.

I don't think the ST Engineering/SAIC combo will win with the Terrex variant. I am surprised that it has gotten this far. I am sure its partner SAIC have something to do with it. ST Eng is paying SAIC to use their connections and contacts in the Senate to push through the Terrex. SAIC's strength is in info and tech based and they have won many contracts for the CIA and other intelligence agency. they are not a hardware company. I guess ST figured to leverage SAIC's connections and get the contract. SAIC are smart operators. They bring on board some respected high and middle ranking retired USMC officers and put them in with ST Engineering to modify the vehicle to the needs of the USMC. While ST pushes the engineering and hardware side, SAIC pushes the Senate and Navy to buy the Terrex. The real players with any real experience are the BAE/Iveco combo version of the SUperAV 8X8. Both are proven military hardware suppliers with a long history of weapons developed and tested in combat.
