I was in a good mood when I got up. I then logged on and came across massive displays of stupidity and ignorance which left me dumbfounded.

Mind you these dumb remarks aren't from the village idiot. They're from supposedly educated people.

Re: Haze causing Companies exposed - should CEO be executed?

I remember LHL claiming that Spore can't do anything because it is an Indonesian affair & that Spore Law has no jurisdiction in indonesia.

I'm sure he'll be happy to know that some of companies responsible are listed in Spore:rolleyes:

the psi in my office reads 500 today as everyone including me just farted as a result of consuming beans and melted cheese for lunch. psi denotes pungent smell index.

Docile-lookiing Healthy Minister finally surfaces

PAP Inter-Ministerial Committee for haze Politicising Haze Response

This evening PAP Inter Ministerial committee for Haze is politicising the distribution of 1,000,000 N95 Masks to 200,000 lower income families. So I now know what is the cause of the shortage in the first place! So noble, asking NSFs to distribute these Masks to RCs and RCs give to poor families. So does it caused voters in Hougang, Punggol East and Aljunied GRC to feel lousy that they voted Opposition Party instead of PAP?

My question is: Why ask RCs to distribute to lower income families? Why not SAF setting up a distribution points at lower income estate to do the distribution? So the RCs will have sufficient manpower to go door to door? Or it is better to score political point by asking balls carrying RCs to do a door to door? Will the RCs order the NSFs to do cheap labor since field training are cancelled?

If you want a country that prefers Mats, go there.

If you want a country that prefers scholars and paper generals, stay here

Re: Docile-lookiing Healthy Minister finally surfaces

Its dangerous asking RCs to distribute them. RCs are toxic.

Bargain Hen talk cock, DISGraceFu joins in, Healthy Minister Gan keeps mum

SINGAPORE — The Government yesterday took pains to explain its use of the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading when calibrating its response to the haze situation, saying that it is a better reflection of the impact of the smog on health, compared to the three-hour reading. (Impact may be a "better reflection" but it does not mean that it is less dangerous at certain levels!).

At a press conference helmed by the Haze Inter-Ministerial Committee, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Grace Fu pointed out that the three-hourly PSI readings fluctuate widely. (Wah, profound, minister, profound. All the more reason why we need hourly data, dumbo. Why not give us 200,000-hourly readings, and SG is fine and dandy?)

“The health impact of the air pollutants is determined by both the concentration and the duration of exposure. When we measure the health impact, the 24-hour measurement is a better reflection of the total exposure of the individual to particulate matter,” said Ms Fu, who was standing in for Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who was flying back from a ministerial meeting in Jakarta. (Dear DISGrace fool, no one individual stands 24 hours in the haze, to get the full impact of the haze!)

Defence Minister and Chairman of the committee Ng Eng Hen elaborated on this point, saying that the effects of exposure to pollutants are based on a “continuum” rather than a “threshold”. (Oh, here is another pompous minister trying to impress daft Sinkies with big words which even the Healthy Minister Gan may not understand. Oh, I forget - Sinkies are price takers, not market makers, as Minister Shanmuggam said).

“The effects are based on factors such as the length of exposure, how dense the pollutants are and individual variation. Second, the studies co-relating such exposure to pollutants are for 24-hour measurements. There have been much less data correlated with three-hour measurements. For this reason, our health guidance is based on 24-hour PSI,” said Dr Ng. (Okay, so, over the last two decades, we have not been collecting 3-hour data? Or is it a case of making the PSI 'affordable' the way Marlboro Tan used to say public housing was affordable when taking out a 50-year loan?)

However, doctors pointed out that Singapore’s situation is different from that of, say, Hong Kong or Mexico, where the level of pollution is constant throughout the day. (Sinkies may be daft, but these doctors are not. I rest my case).

Associate Professor Philip Eng, a senior consultant in respiratory medicine, said: “In our situation, it is different because the winds and the PSI levels change so drastically. The studies might be looking at health impact based on pollution levels that are more constant ... here the PSI in one day can swing from 100 to 400. So it is hard to assess the health impact like this.”

Dr Lim Ing Ruen, an ear, nose and throat surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, felt that neither a 24-hour nor a three-hour measurement will give a very good picture of the health impact.

“People should be assessing the PSI level right before they go out, to see if the level at that particular hour poses a threat. An average figure for the whole day may not be that reflective, as the figures can fluctuate wildly throughout the day. The key is spot PSI.”

Whether one has a pre-existing condition is also a factor.

“If you are asthmatic, any level of PSI can set you off,” she said.

(This good doctor summarises it well, and it is something that should have been coughed out from the mouths of our multi-million dollar ministers! Instead, they go around in a convoluted manner and try to cover their tracks with bovine discharge all over, adding discomfort to the air).

The committee was also asked why previous advisories indicated that the public should avoid physical activities outdoors when the PM2.5 reading — which measures particles smaller than 2.5 microns — was between 150 to 250, but now they are only told to avoid strenuous activities and stay at home or wear a mask.

Dr Ng stressed that a “higher-level advisory” would be issued when PM2.5 levels warrant it, but for the sake of clarity, the readings for now are “simplified” for the public. He added that medical professionals have said this is “sensible”. (Okay, we get it. Sinkies are so daft, that they cannot even understand a simple number which measures "pee sai". Minister Hen, thou art too condescending, methinks).

He also reiterated that the daily advisories for the public and workers do not indicate “a hard line for stoppage of work or closure of schools”.

“It is not sensible to have these thresholds now because for some, the home environment is no different from the school or work. So if you stop work or close schools, they go back to the home environment, the exposure is the same,” he said. “It is not sustainable because it means a mass closure of outdoor businesses, airports, ports and other sectors.” (Really, this is getting dumb and DUMBER. The commuting kills, minister, the commuting KILLS! Not everyone goes to work in a car, like Dr Anal Koh, minister!)

Minister of State for Health and Manpower Amy Khor urged employers to “remain vigilant and exercise flexibility”. She said: “There is no hard line for everything to come to a stop ... it depends on the nature of work, whether it’s indoor, outdoor, whether it’s strenuous, the health of the workers, whether they are frail, elderly and so on.” She also urged employers to show understanding and allow their staff to take leave if necessary.
(ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Minister, if you don't have anything to add to the conversation, or make some really sensible remarks! Even a fish knows that it will not get into trouble if it does not open its mouth. Or at least that is what your boss Healthy Minister Gan did - zero comments to date on dengue AND the haze. Just collect the salary quietly and no one will know whether he is dumb. Or dumber).

bro, enjoyed the interpretation of the article. brilliant.

Re: Bargain Hen talk cock, DISGraceFu joins in, Healthy Minister Gan keeps mum

According to them the Haze is not generally a health issue but can be a health issue but it need not be one as long as you know how to work out when it is a health issue. That is indeed clear as m&d.

Re: Bargain Hen talk cock, DISGraceFu joins in, Healthy Minister Gan keeps mum

At a technical briefing after the press conference, Dr Lee Hock Siang, Director of Occupational Safety and Health Specialist Department at the Ministry of Manpower, said that employers could be prosecuted if they do not follow the advisory, for example, if a worker is made to operate cranes when visibility is low.
(Dr Lee - are you related, doctor - we are talking about scientific data like pee sai level, not visibility level, darling).

Malaysia can tell the truth now because their election is just over ! PAP cannot say the truth to citizen because their election is in 3 years time ! Understand now ?

Re: Action Plan Millionster, Action and not talking and smiling.

$10 fee at certain clinics? Anyone has the list? KNN after so many days, their action plan still so fuzzy. Delay tactics hoping that the haze will just pass and sinkees will just die.

超级白are surfing SBF for ideas to tackle the haze problem.

Look at what bargain hen said during the press conference, most ideas seemed to have been taken from here.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/singapore-moves-to-ensure-supply-of-n95-masks-amid-high-demand-120808834.html

1). Distribute N95 to lower income family.
2). Use SAF to move supplies.

Bestest, masks will be distributed to RC for the grassroots to redistribute to needy familees. Meaning Aljunied, Punggol & Hougang won't be getting any?
