The 'red shirts' was a lose coalition of different factions to begin with.

The 'black shirts' faction was the only armed group and probably under Seh Daeng command.

Unfortunately, the government used the 'black shirts' as excuses to fire live rounds indiscriminately at ALL the 'red shirts'.

Among the coalition there are also children and infants; the Thai govt should step down and let them lead the country.

I believed what my Thai friends told me rather than listening from foreign news, especially CNN.

I do agree the Gov shouldnt fire live rounds, but the Red protesters were given ample time to disperse. What would you do, when someone refuse to mediate and asking for unreasonable demands?

All Thais are victims in this incident, regardless what shirt they wore.

I'm not siding Abhisit/Elites/Royal family, but i still believe Thaksin is the main culprit in this holocaust.

He may well be the cause, the catalyst, but not the culprit, as least not yet. Don't cast your verdict prematurely, let history be the judge. If there's one thing we should learn from Three Kingdoms, this is it.

The catalyst to this sad situation is none other than Whore Jinx. Thugsin's troubles started from the day he decided to conspire with the Whore to help Temasek acquire his telco company and evade a few US$b of income tax.

I'm told by inside source that the colour of the Whore's soles are white and that could explain why every deal the Whore touches, it turns to dust.

Don't believe in this Hocus pocus, voodoo shit.
She is just plain lousy with a track record like a train wreck.
If this is not Nepotism, then I don't know what is.

There may be no immediate or perfect solution, but killing is definite not a solution.

No matter how unreasonable the protesters were, no one is entitled kill them. The government crossed that line.

What the protesters did resulted in financial loss to the country. What the live rounds did resulted in innocent human lives being taken away.

No amount of money can bring back a killed person.

To have Tanks and Army with live rounds to suppress civilians is a big mistakes, what the government did, is planed a seed of hatred that will spread and consume the country in years to come.

I am afraid if you are not siding you should only be listening to CNN and BBC. I am in Bangkok and have been here for more than 3 years and seen lots. Local press here is highly bias and very yellow. So when I say I heard from my Thai friends I am afraid they themselves are listening to very bias information.

If anyone wish to comment about Thai politics and accusing so and so is guilty he should spend some time on the countryside. No need to be in Isaan or north. So to the south too and then you can comment who is right and who is wrong.

Not dispersing from a protest site and asking for unreasonable demands do not deserve the army shooting at you. Army is use for war. Police is use for quelling riots.

And anyway what makes anyone think the poor is making unreasonable demand? If you voted in a government 3 times and it won three times overwhelmingly but 3 times it was taken away from you are you making unreasonable demand for the current government to be dissolve?

To say that "I believe Thaksin is the main culprit" is itself very bias.

Don't care whether police or army removes the crowd. When protest is peaceful it is ok. But when you start having armed militia firing grenades then you use whatever means needed to dismantle them.

There is no denying that there is well equipped armed militia within the protestors. Look at how they manage to burn down modern buildings. It is not easy to set a modern bldg on fire given the firesupression system.

PM was too soft thinking that this was just protestors and their right to free speech. No nation would allow a large unruly mob to hold hostage a commercial center for months.

You try holding a protest on Wall Street and police will be out in force, let you make your message and arrest you within the same day. If crowd too big or violent they call out the army! PM was way too nice.

If a protestor were to shoot at a police officer over in USA, they can expect overwhelming force in return. It is one thing to have freedom of speech but make sure you do not trample on the freedom of others like preventing them from making a living.

This was not a riot. This was a well trained, well armed opponent with great military tactics (attack the army from behind). I think in April Army underestimated their opponent. So Thai police was no match for the protestors not to mention that they have sympathies for them.

And the end of it all, there was a lot of restraint on Army's side. I would not be surprised if these militia were using civilians as human shields.

Going forward they should squeeze the finances and hunt down all these leaders. Do not let them get started again. And of course go see what is making the peasants so unhappy.

yah! thaksin thought all Thais are peasants! but a lot of Thais know what the fuck he is doing. if u really staying in Thailand for sometime not like someone who claimed he is but he is not. u should know how Thai authorities handle trouble makers. why waste time to arrest and prosecute them? all u need is a bullet to do the job. u think after this thaksin can go back to Thailand safe and sound? a lot of people are going after thaksin life in Thailand, once he steps in Thailand. he better be ready to die.

As my friend had said, the Police is not doing anything because they are on Thaksin side, you can ask around and verify it for me, i'm not there, if i'm wrong, i apologise for my friend

As you said, yes, the poor doesnt mean unreasonable, but what is the purpose of the protesters? the government to step down? or they want Thaksin cronies to be in charge again?

Thailand is a developing country, the gap between the rich and the poor is wide. I'm sure every Thais wants to narrow it, but getting Thaksin back will solve the problem? I seriously dun think so, Thaksin is not a saint, nor he's a good PM at all, corruption, treason, muzzling the reporters, selling national assets to foreign buyers etc etc...

One thing i praise about Thaksin is that he uses the money to upgrade the rural area, that, everyone can see, any nobody is denying that. But where did that money came from? Yes, he's a billionaire, maybe he uses his own money? i dunno. But 1 thing i know once you are a PM of a country, you'll get greedy and wants to be more powerful. Look at Singapore, perfect example :biggrin:

And i do watch CNN lah, my friend told me not to watch only, if dun watch CNN, where i can see the news? LOL :p:p

Thaksin and Abhisit have not done well in not trying to work the problem out.
But the problem goes deeper than just the 2 of them.
There are also individuals in both the red shirts and the government who have their own agendas and who have contributed to the escalation of the situation instead of trying to contain or resolve it.
