They vote out of fear of the old fart, and they vote out of the fact that the opposition hasn't been able to offer a strong alternative, or give out a strong voice whenever the opposition can.

I will take a Hokkien-speaking AP candidate over a PAP english-speaking one, simply because I would blame the PAP one for helping Singapore crash into a recession, even faster than other Asian countries.

And this is coming from a guy who has an english-speaking background, with my only Hokkien coming out of the army variety. Which is, in extension, very unprintable.

Low is not doing a bad job. He is speaking up for the people, focusing on relevant issues and trying to make the government accountable, within the limits of his capability, knowledge and resources. Unfortunately, the only 2 comrades he has in parliament are an elderly gentleman who is recovering from an illness and has served the country and his constituency with dignity for many years, and a smart and brave lady who is not an elected member.
It is very sad and to some extent disgusting, that some people are condemning the efforts of these opposition members, when they themselves are doing nothing or little for the progress of the nation and hide behind the annonymity of the internet. Why don't these critics step forward and do something for the country and the citizens?
I believe that the only way for SG to progress is for more opposition MPs to be elected into parliament. They will be able to pose questions and debate issues without fear and with conviction, and make the ruling party more accountable and transparent and having to look after the citizens' well-being.
