Serious Underwater World Singapore (UWS) and the Dolphin Lagoon Closing Down

How come don't have a show featuring the Merlion? Its about time they let the dolphins go anyway.

Cheers!

didnt know haw par is the operator, thought they only operating the fake hell at haw par villa

btw is the fake hell still open?

who the hell will pay $100 to see dolphins jumping over loops, the same old tricks they been doing for the last 50 years

Writing was on the wall after the opening of the other sea museum. A bit silly to have 2 water themed attractions in Sentosa.

It all boils down to admission prices; too expensive. Eventually all tourist attractions in SG will close down, the SG FLYER failed, Tang Dynasty City, Haw Par Villa (when it charged admission prices). Gardens by the bay, Bird Park, Zoo (3 in 1 attractions), Sentosa Cable Car won't last long either.

Tickets Too expensive, no customers, too cheap then every Ah Beng, Ah Lian and Bangla/Pinay ft will jam pack to make these attractions disgustingly unenjoyable.

the UWS is a nice place. I remember that when i was a toddler, I literally.... never been there.

during my skools day, my peers would roams many places for fun..... but I also neber been there.

when i took wedding photoshoot, we went about sentosa for the best shot, but again I neber been there.

looking back at those time... and now it is going to shutter for good.

I've saved a fortune

I remember going to Sentosa soon after the Brits left. Visited their empty dwellings. Visited a toilet which opened to a great view of the sea:)
There were concrete bunkers all over the island. It was an interesting place.

Back then people lived on the island & you didn't have to spend much to eat & drink there. It was also easy to get there by a regular ferry service.

The PAP gov't could have turned Sentosa into a resort for Sporeans with very little $ investment. Instead they chose to commercialise the place with expensive attractions. That is the sad story of Spore, to demolish, renovate & charge a premium for everything.

Looks like all the UWS staff are being retrenched by end of this month.

As for its staff, Underwater World Singapore told Channel NewsAsia they will be compensated in accordance with Singapore's Employment Act. "We will assist the staff, within our means, to look for alternative job opportunities since they have acquired valuable experience and knowledge during their employment with UWS."
