Under attack, Choh Boh Jo Teo amends comments on PSLE

Confuseous

SINGAPORE - Minister of State for Transport and Finance Josephine Teo updated her Facebook page this morning with further comments on her criticism of OCBC Bank's PSLE Leave Scheme.

In her new posting, she said that people should take time out for any occasion they feel is significant for their families. However, she said she was uncomfortable with the bank's singling out the PSLE, as it implied that it should be the norm for parents to take leave for their children's PSLE.
(She neeeds to understand that HER priority may noto be other people's priority and should be judgemental).

"Speaking as a parent, I can understand that many parents feel anxious. However, by focusing an inordinate amount of attention on PSLE (or any other exam), we stress ourselves and the kids excessively," she wrote.
(Hmm, and who created the problem?)

She added that the PSLE "does determine the secondary school they go to but that itself is not the only thing that determines their future".
(We know she is out of depth with the real world and many other things, with this comment).

She encouraged parents to be there for their children when they are needed, which is not neccessarily during the PSLE. "Don't miss out on all the other times when our presence matters," she wrote.
(Woh, she is now even resorting to telling parents how to raise their children, after both husband and wife have rounded up their 2-income 14-hour days! Isn't she a great mother?)

In her posting yesterday, she had said that the PSLE Leave Scheme was "over-the-top", and was not one of the things she had hoped to see employers doing for their staff.

(Over the top or not is NOT for her to decide. To each his own needs).

These people have no feel on the ground - the anxiety and concerns. How they gotten elected is no mystery - rear entry via the GRC.

I don't know what to say.

WTF is joeteo to come and tell us how we should use our annual leave or how to take care of our children?

Appears like more and more miw are shooting their mouths off without regard to the feelings of citizens or the realities of the situation. They are so out of touch!!!

Looks like one and a half years after GE2011, they suddenly gain confidence and start blaming all the woes sinkies are experiencing on our own people (housng problems mainly caused by family problems, low population fetrtility because citizens don't want to give birth, mrt breakdowns because of overloading causing strans on the facilities, that is, too many of you poor numbskulls on the trains, etc).

Wonder where all these new confidence come from???

She could have said some politically-correct and encouraging words to the mothers and fathers who are concerned about their children's education, physical well-being and their future. She could have said some nice words that parents and family-friendly companies like OCBC would feel good. Hey, isn't that the public campaign that is going on now?

Frankly, many of the young children (especially boys) if given the choice - or chance - would have preferred to play with their iphone or busily updating their Facebook pages. Not all children are as disciplined as her when she was a 12-year old girl, nor parents as confident as her as a mother, nor is everybody blessed with good genes like hers.

Facebook is not like Sammyboy forum where you can come in and anonymously zap or hantum anybody you like and get away with it. Not everybody is going to agree with what she said, no matter how well-meaning she intended.
