Lim Soo Hui, 53, is said to have committed criminal intimidation with intent to cause grievous hurt or death to the 17-year-old on Wednesday evening.
He also faces a second charge of breaching a personal protection order taken out by his wife by punching her on the right wrist earlier that evening.
Bail of $10,000 was set. He will be back in court on Nov 26.
If found guilty of criminal intimidation he can be jailed for up to seven years and/or fined.
The other offence is punishable with a fine of $2,000 or six months' jail or both.

heard from a teacher friend that under his charge,there is this quite pretty female secondary student who always play truant.Later he found out that she is a glue sniffer and how her father disciplined her,was by grabbing her head and slamming onto the wall. I have been thinking of the causes of recent sucides,including today's chinese wanbao, one taxi driver who hanged himself in the park cos of gambling debts and later harrassed by loan sharks. I think the problem is that these people too secluded and may think that they are worse off than others. The solution is discard your face value and talk to others if you are having problems. Do things that you enjoy if too depressed,actually nothing is too depressive! I know of someone whose depression was in-borne one.Majority of depression cases are caused by environment,social and personal level. Medication may not help or maybe slightly.
