I have a friend whose wallet looks like it has been used for 100 years and there's nothing much inside with only an ATM card, an EZ link card, a credit card and his IC.

And guess what? That fellow has a net worth of 20 million. :o

Yes, have known an ah pek who owned properties all over Orchard Road area purposely walk around in singlet, shorts and japonses sandals. He told me when he went to London and stayed in a well known hotel, he gave the ang mo doorman ten pounds and from then on, for everyday of his stay in the hotel, the ang mo always tabey him and tell him 'yes, sir, yes sir!!!'.
