SINGAPORE — After obtaining nude photographs of a woman from her disgruntled ex-boyfriend, Alexandra Chan Chee Meng used them to blackmail the woman into having sex.
“What can you offer me to take (the photos) back? Cash or body?” Chan, 44, wrote in one of the messages to the victim. The father-of-one had also threatened to send the photos to other men.
On Friday (May 4), Chan was sentenced to two months’ jail after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal intimidation.
The victim’s ex-boyfriend had previously been sentenced to two months’ jail for distributing the obscene photos.
The court heard on Friday that Chan came across the nude photos, which were posted on a social networking site by the victim’s ex-boyfriend, on September 23, 2015.
The couple were together for about three years before they broke up in January 2015. The victim’s ex-boyfriend began uploading the photos online a few months later.
He not only acceded to Chan’s request for more nude photos, but even gave him his ex-girlfriend’s mobile phone number and suggested that the 44-year-old blackmail her into sex.
He had also asked Chan, a senior store keeper with a hospital, to take a photo of the act and send it to him.
Chan began contacting the victim, who became alarmed when she received two of her nude photos. He had also threatened to send her photos to other men.
The victim lodged a police report on May 22, 2016 against Chan and her ex-boyfriend.
Chan is currently out on S$10,000 bail to settle personal matters, and will begin serving his sentence on June 1.
