Two youths help catch snatch thief

SINGAPORE - With the help of two youths, police have arrested two men and a woman, aged between 18 and 26, for a case of snatch theft along Victoria Street.
One of the men had snatched the iPad of a 44-year-old woman who was walking along Victoria Street on May 27 at about 12.54am.
Two youths, aged 19 and 22, heard her cries for help and managed to detain the fleeing suspect. The woman took back her iPad from the 26-year-old man, and called the police who arrested the man at the scene.
Police discovered that the man had two other accomplices and mounted an operation to arrest the duo. The first accomplice, an 18 year-old female, was arrested at Bukit Panjang on May 27 at about 4.45pm, while the second accomplice, a 25 year-old male, was arrested at Clementi Avenue 5 at about 5.45pm on the same day.
The male suspects will be charged in Court for the offence of Snatch Theft read with Common Intention under Section 356 and Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term between one and seven years, and caning. A court order will be sought to remand both subjects for further investigations.
Investigations against the female suspect are ongoing.
