Two men commended for foiling attempted snatch theft

SINGAPORE: Two men have been commended on Saturday for rendering help to a snatch theft victim.
The two men, 21-year-old Loh Chee Leong and 31-year-old Gobalan, came to the rescue of a 27-year-old woman when they heard her cries for help.
The victim was walking in front of Braddell MRT Station at about 11.50pm on Friday night when a man tried to snatch her handbag and mobile phone.
The two men gave chase to the suspect, who was nabbed at a multi-storey carpark at Block 110A, Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, when he jumped off from the second level, fracturing his legs and ribs.
If convicted, the 27-year-old man could be jailed up to seven years and caned.
