Two injured as gunman sprays car
BATU GAJAH: A gunman fired a stream of bullets at three people in a parked car, injuring one of them in the right shoulder and wounding another in his left thigh. The third person, who was not identified, escaped unhurt.
The car was parked outside a house in Taman Sri Wangsa here at 11.45pm on Monday when the gunman fired the shots. Police later found 11 casings in the bullet-ridden Proton Wira.
Welder K. Raja, 31, who was in the driver’s seat, was shot in his shoulder while M. Paramsivan, 24, a lorry driver, was hit in the thigh. The unharmed passenger was in the back seat at that time.
They were in the car when a motorcycle with two men on it drew close to them. The pillion rider fired several shots before he and his accomplice sped away.
The occupants of the house, believed to be family members, rushed the injured men to the Batu Gajah hospital. The victims were later transferred to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Najib Mohamad said the police were investigating the motive of the attack.
