Two Hong Kong journalists who just returned from an assignment in South Korea have been quarantined on suspicion of having contracted Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), according to a report on the Apple Daily's website on Sunday.
The report said one of the two reporters, who covered the MERS outbreak outside Pyongtaek St Mary's Hospital south of Seoul, had a slight fever upon arrival at Hong Kong's airport.
The two, who wore masks while covering the outbreak near the hospital, where MERS patients are being treated, were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong for tests, said the report.
No confirmed cases of human MERS infection have been reported in Hog Kong.
South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said the country's health authorities have ordered the isolation of 2,361 people on suspicion of MERS contagion, of whom 560 have been released from quarantine.
A total of 64 MERS cases have been confirmed in South Korea, leading to five deaths, according to Yonhap.
