Tunnel Bear is so easy to configure that anyone can do it.

The disadvantage of Tunnel Bear is the limited choice of servers. StrongVPN gives you hundreds of servers to choose from. Tunnel Bear has 5.

Ah yes ah sam that's also a good thing cos you know sometimes we need to log into the server from timbaktu so that we can appear to be the mystic from africa. It's not just about hiding one's IP address.

I use VPN not for anonymity but for bypassing geo restrictions. In this respect, it does an excellent job.

The purpose of VPN is to enable access to blocked sites and to overcome geo restrictions for purchasing products or streaming movies.

Hiding yourself from law enforcement or govt surveillance is a totally different issue altogether.

It's not a breeze if you make it as hard as possible. I can tell you that I can configure a VPN connection where the local authorities will have no way of knowing my Mac address no matter how hard they try. They would need court orders or insider information in multiple countries.

If I was planning the downfall of the government, the efforts I put in to hide my ass would be a lot more elaborate compared just wanting to watch a Netflix movie in geo restricted region.

I'm just giving my opinion regarding tunnel bear as a simple and straightforward client for the average joe who just wants to download some porn from a blocked site or wants to purchase stuff on Amazon US.

The reason VPN is so reliable in this is because the streaming website usually does not care, it just needs ensure that its server log show that none of its videos are streamed to locations not authorized by the original content producer that sold the site the streaming license. There is no "going against" the authority here, and there's nothing to "nab".

Committing a crime (child porn, for example) is a lot harder because VPNs keep a log and they would not hesitate to turn you over to the authorities if a court order comes in.

You're one confused bush as well. Watching streaming videos using VPN is no more illegal than purchasing a DVD player from a US manufacturer and using it to watch US-only DVDs which i purchased from the US. An infringement only occurs if I distribute the content without permission.
