The interesting thing is that inequality massively increased under Obama, who was allegedly concerned about the poor. Trump seems concerned about the rich—what if the opposite happens? What if inequality decreases?

There are a lot of good reasons why this would happen, particularly the composition of the Federal Reserve, which is about to get more hawkish no matter what happens. Raise interest rates to something approaching equilibrium, and a lot of this stupid risk-taking activity comes to an end.

Nothing new. In 2003, the then President George W. Bush warned Taiwan not to provoke Beijing by going ahead with a referendum demanding that China renounce the use of force and withdraw hundreds of missiles aimed at the island. China saw Chen Shui Bian's referendum as a provocative step towards declaring independence.

All incoming US Presidents, Democrats or Republicans, always talk big and harshly about China, either out of naivete or for cheap political theater. They think they have a Taiwan ace in hand which they can use as a clever negotiating chip and deal against China. But once they receive a detailed briefing from the US State Department about the realities of international relations and the US Department of Defence about the hundreds of thousands of body bags they have to prepare and will be used for American troops in a military conflict with China (and with the Russians who will step in alongside China as they will not allow the Americans to create chaos and disorder on their Southern doorstep), these American trailer trash will scuttle off very quickly.
