Trio jailed for assaulting oil rigger
Published on Jan 25, 2012

A man who instigated three others to beat up an oil rigger was jailed for 16 weeks on Wednesday.
Khairul Ramdan Jamaludin, 25, pleaded guilty to abetting Mohamed Ariffin Mohamed Motali, Syed Fuad Syed Sheikh, both 24, and Naresh Krishnan, 23, to cause hurt to Mr Aminnuddin Siregar Aminullah Siregar, 25, at the void deck of Block 3 Telok Blangah Crescent on July 15 last year.
He claimed that Mr Aminnuddin had assaulted him during reservist training and wanted the co-accused to 'teach the victim a lesson'. When Ariffin and Fuad approached the victim and accused him of beating up Khairul, the victim denied and said that they might have got the wrong person.
They punched the victim. Naresh then came and joined them in repeatedly punching and kicking the victim, who did not retaliate. Khairul was jailed for 16 weeks while Ariffin and Fuad were each sentenced to 12 weeks' jail after they admitted to causing hurt. Naresh was given 16 weeks' jail by another court on Nov 8.
