NS IPPT score calculations for (non-commando) IPPT Gold standard: https://www.ns.sg/web/portal/nsmen/...ations-and-scoring-system/scoring-calculation

Consideration : 20yrs old, already did 60 sit ups and 60 push ups in 1 minute each (perfect score). Needs to run 2.4km in under 13:20 mins (average of 10.8 kph) to get enough points (minimum 75 points) to achieve IPPT Silver award.

Unfortunately, shared paths/ pavement speed limit is only 10kph, so short 7 points to get silver award.

So best achievable time based on 10kph pavement speed limit is 14.24mins for 2.4km (round up to IPPT table for points calculated for time under 14:30)

For IPPT Gold (85points) based on more reasonable 51pushups & situps done is 14.4kph (2.4km in 10:00) (considered VERY ILLEGAL (exceeding speed limit of pavement by 44%))

Looks like SAF, LTA, TP, Nparks, MOH are ENCOURAGING people to get diabetes in Singapore.

omg. did i see 58 browser tabs being opened in the screenshot above?

IPPT sucks. lucky i MR already. :D

this is the way zheng hu save money by imposing speed limit so people cannot get silver or gold in ippt. that way they don't have to give out incentive money

I certainly cannot run or train on public walkways anymore

One way to overcome this problem is to train slower, but run faster on the day of the test.

Very dangerous advice. Just like the recently deceased 1hr after he completed his 10km SBR2018 on 26August 2018. Probably doesn't do regular exercise but use event as a means for maybe 1x/year exercise. Ends up his timing is at bottom 7% even for his 40s yr age bracket.

Better to train harder in familiar territory than over exert on unfamiliar soil (races, IPPT). Unless it is your occupation n u need prize/ medal to buy food, these tests shouldn't involve over exertion but just a fair observation of one's fitness routine thus far.

As a reminder to those who like to go round collecting certificates, pls do NOT participate unless U already run / exercise average HALF the race distance already regularly every week... And also I think that this is the bare minimum and U shouldn't push too hard unless u want to take the risk.

Otherwise, U will receive a death cert instead.

Just factually saying, more experienced people can correct my facts if incorrect.

Stomp Singapore
‏ 30August 2018.
@stompsingapore

A 46-year-old man died on Tuesday (Aug 28) after requiring medical attention following the completion of the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run Army Half Marathon last Sunday (Aug 26).

Stomp was first alerted to this incident by Stomper Dass who received the news in a closed Facebook group named Tango Papa (ex and current members), consisting of past and present officers of the Traffic Police.

From a post by a member in the Facebook group, the man was identified as Mr Wong Chung Kent.

A statement issued to Stomp by the organising committee of SAFRA Singapore Bay Run Army Half Marathon, which is jointly organised by SAFRA and the Army, said:

"A Chinese participant, aged 46, completed the 10km race category during the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon (SSBR&AHM) held on 26 August 2018 (Sunday) at approximately 8am.

"At 9.15am, our medical team was alerted to an incident requiring medical attention at the locality of Toast Box at The Esplanade by the Bay.

"The medical team arrived on site at 9.16am and attended to the conscious participant.

"A passerby at the scene who was a medical doctor also came forward to assist.

"At 9.22am, he was evacuated from The Esplanade by the Bay towards the ambulance pick-up point.

"At about 9.24am, a Singapore Civil Defence Force emergency ambulance arrived and evacuated him to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

"We have been in touch with his family to offer assistance.

"The organisers of the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased."

According to Stomper Dass, who was once acquainted with the deceased while they were both working in the Traffic Police, the incident came as a shock to him and those who knew him.

"I have no words to describe how I feel about this incident," he said.

"I just saw a selfie which he took right before the run.

"Outwardly, he seems so fit, so healthy.

"I remember him as an avid runner."

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has also issued a response to the incident:

"SCDF received an alert for medical assistance on 9.15am at Toast Box Esplanade and dispatched one ambulance to the scene.

"A man was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for chest pains."

Stomp attended the deceased's wake on Aug 30.

The deceased family had declined to comment about the incident.

I could do a better time with SBO and rifle.

If that timing is accurate he should have walked half the way, could be an underlying medical condition.

Should admit to SGH.....Sure Go Home.
Admitted to SGH, but died in 2days, probably already brain dead in the process because the moment heart stops beating, brain starts to die. By 10mins, brain is completely dead, so probably, family agree to switch off the machines.

Please don't kill yourselves for such a paltry monetary incentive. In particular, don't get heat stroke! :cautious:
