Traffic jams at both CIQs (Woodlands Causeway and Tuas 2nd Link)

IMHO, Simon James is just a really stupid FT. He should not have written about the difficulties of staying in JB, and working in SG. What he should have written is how SG productivity is being affected because those staying in JB are perpetually late and using the unpredictable jam as a reason, hence affecting SG business productivity.

In addition, he should have written about how SG companies which have set up shop in JB are finding it difficult to schedule their JB/SG meetings. They are either super early for their JB/SG meetings or super late. Again affecting productivity..... No offence, but I would prefer less FTs of James' calibre since his letter is really v lousy.....

Simon James may well be Simon s/o James

Write to the CEO or Minister in charge directly is more useful :p

I'm surprise tt there is a slight jam now at 1st link. Hope everybody reaches home safely soon.

Hi need advice from kind souls here, what is the best time, not unearthly hours, to go into Johor from 2nd Link on a Sunday possibly this school holiday month?

Thanks in advance.

I suppose 9am-11am is okay to enter, and exit around 2-4pm. The windows are very narrow now and you can still encounter minor jam. Best is to view the traffic cameras.

2nd link, in 8am out around lunch 12noon.

From JB to SG:

Reach JB checkpoint at around 745 am and cleared Woodlands around 840 am. Not too bad but lots of MY cars which slowed down the immigration counters. Hence the customs check area was v smooth. Heard that its Agong birthday today, and coupled with school holidays, many Malaysians may be visiting SG this weekend.

Yes Saturday is Malaysia Agong ( or Ah-ma ) birthday.. so its a holiday. Expect serious jam. Normally it takes 1-2 hours to cross.. today and tomorrow maybe 3 hours. But 3 hours has become the norm

1st link - in Malaysia at 8+, spent 45 mins in car. Just back from Malaysia, spent 1 hr 5 mins :)

Would someone have time and energy, please lobby Authorities for answers and actions to,..

1. Why must the damn SG CIQ officer waste time & ask for name of passport holder, slowly ?

2. Why does the occasional SG CIQ officer, walk out of booth, and look at the other side fo the car - when later the customs check would have done a more thorough check ? !!!

3. Why deploy an AETOS officer to re-arrange cones, on bridge,..with no enforcement powers - whilst the many, many, many braver motorists take bus/mbike lanes and filter-in at the last minute, making jammms worse ?????!!!!

Singapore is demn f****** kia-soo, kia see.

Strive to be Efficient, but totally ineffective.

Thanks & Do have a Nice Day :)

You cannot question the enforcing officers. They have the power to haul out out and send you to their office for further questioning and checking of cars if they suspect you. I have seen many J-plate drivers kenna.

Do not question them on-the-spot,..BUT QUESTION THEIR SUPERIORS, BY WRITING IN, TELEPHOPNE,...ETC.,..
IT IS THE MANAGEMENT, POLICY-MAKERS, THAT FORCES THESE OFFICERS TO BEHAVE THE WAY THEY DO.

The officers by right should check thoroughly. Our border security should be enforced :)

To relieve the jam, one way is to construct more booths or additional links but it will take several years. Alternatively less people cross the links can help to reduce congestion but 2.6 exchange rate is too attractive to ignore (might weaken further).

Dear all,

I think the best way to solve the jam is to build a motorcycle lane, together with the JB RTS to save cost. This should also be a 1-stop clearance system. i.e. the SG & JB customs (from SG to JB) should clear 1-stop at JB side, while the (JB to SG) customs should also clear 1-stop at SG side. There should be a fare hike of RM4 per trip (each way) for this new sys.

Then the Woodlands customs will be expanded via additional car counters at the Old Lorry Customs, with all the bikes counters/lanes converted to car lanes. Again, an additional charge of RM6 (each way) should be implemented to cover this new extension.

SG govt kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Higher toll fees, and SG maintains the causeway for strategic shipping reasons and yet, relieves the causeway jam with both countries citizens happy....... LOL.... Can anyone suggests this to Pinky, Teo Chee Hean and Khaw?

Into Singapore,..

Yes, Passport control check thoroughly - but Customs, again double-check, by opening doors !
Such wastes precious time,
and really,..treats EVERY visitor into SG with suspicion.

But does this really free Singapore of Terrorism Threats ? considering the current reality of,..

- Plenty of Vice, Ganglang activity in Geylang, People's Park,..by Chinamen Gangsters

- Ditto, Peninsula Plaza,..by Mynamar,...Has anyone wondered how the Mynamar men gets "drunk' without the aid of alcohol ?
...other means of smuggling illegal drugs, perhaps ?

- Little India,..recent Riots,..

The Drug problem still persists big time in Singapore, inspite of such strict import controls

Please drive arounf Sg kadut at night,..there are still lotss of illegally-imported cigarette sellers there,...

The SG Police Dogs are simply, barking up the wrong tree, by wasting resources, blanketing all at official checkpoints with suspicions,..thoroughness.

And where is the Traffic Police ?????

last minute lane-cutters are aplenty,....

They would rather install cctvs, to catch docile Singaporean road users, in stopping at non-stop zones,..rather to catch them lane-cutters. Too much work for civil serpents , perhaps ?
