I understand there were many officials who held office during the 80s until mid 2000s emigrated to US post retirement with no intention of going back. Many had been involved in corruption scandals and will probably face some investigation back home.

Give up china for the US? They must be mad!

I have heard cases of county officials were jailed, trialed and executed by firing squad for embezzling 100rmb. This was in the 90s.

And for the past 80 years most PRCs looked up to USA as the ideal country. Most would have emigrated there once they had the means.

Only since Winnie came to power did many younger PRCs saw a real future in their country. Or else there would have been more PRC immigrants everywhere

Winnie willing to pay top yuan for top talents. Enticing many to return. Besides, US corporation have had enough of intellectual property theft. And Chinese scientist are probably sidelined for important posts.

Are you both nuts? There is nothing in China indicating a "real future". No one is paying any yuan for any talent. The truth is that all the Western powers have rejected tiong immigrants. They now have to sneak into the US like Mexicans.

China’s youth unemployment surged to 17.1 per cent in July, the highest level in the eight months since the National Bureau of Statistics adopted a new method of counting.
The jobless rate for 16- to 24-year-olds – excluding students – was up from 13.2 per cent a month earlier and ended three months of declines, according to NBS data released on Friday.

The Big Story

Why so many middle-class Chinese migrants take risky, illegal route to U.S.

Economic malaise, debt and despair push families to trek through jungle to Mexico border
MARRIAN ZHOU, Nikkei staff writerMay 22, 2024 04:00 JST
SAN DIEGO -- Midnight on the remote beach of Capurgana, Colombia, was so dark that Wang Zhongwei could not see his own hands in front of his face. About 20 people got into a large wooden canoe as waves battered the sand. This boat ride would take the group into the notorious Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama, through which migrants will trek for days in the jungle toward the U.S. border.
It was a rainy night in May 2023, and Wang, 32, tied his 14-month-old son to his chest while his wife sat behind him. Their 7-year-old daughter sat with her grandparents. Waves repeatedly thrust their boat meters into the air during the two-hour journey. Wang and his wife struggled to keep their infant's face dry with a raincoat while gripping the sides of the boat. All passengers were soaked from head to toe.

This is a Winnie problem. He is a true communist. Wealth sharing shit. Killing the private enterprises. Hindering new ideas and start ups.
But he did bet highly in renewables and it's paying handsomely. Unfortunately it's not enough.

Mao had syphilis. And he wasn't never cured. wonder how many women carried the disease and spread it
