Happening now: PAP rally at Petir Road

Bukit Panjang SMC candidate Teo Ho Pin has finished his speech in Mandarin. He is now sharing his vision for the SMC. He says he will push for Housing Board flats to be upgraded to ensure a safe and comfortable home for residents, especially the elderly.

There will also be one automated external defibrillator (AED) machine installed every two blocks soon.

More than 10,000 residents are over the age of 50 in Bukit Panjang, he says, and it is important to allow senior citizens to live a healthy and safe life in the SMC. He thanks volunteers for organising activities such as briskwalking to help residents stay active.

Bukit Panjang is unique because many families have their homes near each other. "Over the last 19 years, I have encouraged parents to urge their children to buy flats here." "With all the improvements, Bukit Panjang is no longer an Ulu town," he says.

Mr Damanhuri's Marsiling-Yew Tee team-mate Bryan Lim says he was not able to sleep last night, partially due to illness but also because of Dr Vivian Balakrishnan's remarks that the only people who serve without cost are the wealthy and the corrupt. Mr Lim says his party's volunteers felt insulted by the remarks, and he thanks some of the volunteers by name individually.

Our volunteers are all offended by your ( Dr Vivian) remarks....
