Tommy Koh for reasons best known to him considers himself as the conscience of our society. By now he should realise that the situation is no different to the parish priest of the church that the NY Mafia attended. The priest was there for all the Mafia famililes' important events - birth, holy communion, coming of age, marriage, illness and death. He was considered a confidant and a trusted individual.

Over the years he has come up with similar remarks. So, I remember that some years back he advocated that the MRT system be wheelchair friendly. He then claimed that people at the top said by advocating that line he was "making trouble".

This is the man's modus operandi. More than 90% of the time he will back all govt policies and then once in a blue moon he will make a populist remark that, in the scheme of things, is so minor but he tries to magnify it as being a major point at odds with key govt policy.
