The environment wasn't "clean" in the good old days. It was "natural" and it was nature that killed most people at a young age.

We now have a much better understanding of what "clean" means. That's the reason why we live a lot longer. Medicine merely compliments this understanding.

Thanks for the clarification. It triggered a memory - Michael Crichton suggested this line of thinking in one of his books, can't recall which. That the planet will survive the environmental disasters that kills off man as a species.

It would be in a more natural state but that doesn't mean it will be "healthier" as the meaning of the word "healthy" has human longevity as its basis.

okay but china's economy is still essentially communistic and state controlled with a element of free market in it.

unfortunately communism doesnt work well by itself,the country has to become richer and more developed by capitalist economic policies first before it engages in more communist/socialist policies.
