It appears that Tin Pei Ling joined Ernst & Young around January 2009 (or slightly earlier) and it is likely that she joined Ernst & Young after she married her husband, Ng How Yue, Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Tin Pei Ling graduated with a psychology degree from NUS, however her job scope includes strategic thinking and planning, change management and performance management. It is unclear why Tin Pei Ling a non-business degree graduate could get a job from a prestigious firm working in a business-related field.
For the past few days, I have read many online comments that Tin Pei Ling might have got selected as a PAP candidate because of her husband’s relationship with the Prime Minister. Based on the above analysis, it is unclear whether Tin Pei Ling got her job at Ernst & Young because of “connections”.

Of course she got her job at E&Y through her “elite” connecting network. Given her kind of caliber, you think she can get into E&Y by herself?
Let me share with you an inside knowledge. Tin Pei Ling’s immediate boss is Dilys Boey. You can google yourselves on how her immediate boss is connected to PAP. Oh, by the way, check out our NMP Mildred Tan.

I am young, ambitious and got to say naive. I also have no shame and no dignity. I am told that Singapore makes you like that. You must have connections. In the old days, if you are young and reasonably attractive and you want to have good life, you have little choice but marry men older than you.

I guess I am now the new generation still using the old formula - connections and marrying a someone older but well connected.

I am however disappointed with the Singapore Press Holdings. They are not proud of me. They refused to print that my boss is Dilys Boey who is married to Hri Kumar Nair. The PAP MP who is a lawyer who was so shy to carry his surname of Nair after the alcoholic ex-president. I am not shy and I am ambitious.

You think it is easy to snare a PPS of the PM. Well this baby did it. Just on that alone you got admire me. At age 27, I got the PAP MP to get his wife to hire me. I got the PM 's PPS to marry me. I bet none of you can match me. In a few months time, I will be an MP.

You are Singaporeans must be the dumbest bunch ever. Imagine I have not achieved anything in life worth mentioning and yet I got the PAP to make me an MP. Watch me make a whole bunch and dumb Singaporeans vote me in.​

As far as I know, all PAP MPs got through the election, either by default (uncontested), by the rear door (by means of GRC) and only occasionally by the front door (one-to-one). Even so, everything is loaded in their favour. Theatrical, dramatic and predictable!
