....He did not pass the Breath Evidential Analyser (BEA) test, and was believed to have driven the vehicle without a valid driving license or motor insurance. He will be charged in court with the offences of drink driving, driving without a valid licence, hit-and-run, dangerous driving, as well as driving without a valid motor insurance...
The latest traffic accident at the SLE is again another grim reminder that there are still rogues out there on the road who do not have an iota of respect for the safety of other road users.
The laws on traffic violation are archaic and the young driver who caused the accident to flip the lorry upside down is likely to get suspension of his licence (if he had one) and perhaps a fine. It is fortunate that the lorry driver and the lorry attendant were not killed.
The ending would have been fatal if the scum had smashed into the rear of a small car, instead of the huge lorry. Surely the impact would have killed the driver and passengers in small vehicle.
Time for pappies to wake up and take a hard look on how to whack motorists with iron rods who cause accidents due to drink driving, dangerous driving, inconsiderate driving, driving without licence or suspended licence and without insurance.
Make caning mandatory plus jail term of not less than 6 months for all motorists caught for a combination of the above offences. Causing traffic accident due to a combination of these offences should be considered a criminal liability and a felony, and not a simple traffic violation. Otherwise, what had occurred in SLE would be repeated in the future.
Who is afraid of archaic traffic laws in sinkie land? No jail term and no caning for causing serious traffic accidents.
