SINGAPORE - The first major hotel in the western part of Singapore will open at the end of this month at the Jurong Lake District.
Genting Hotel Jurong is a 15-storey, 557-room hotel tower located along Jurong Town Hall Road.
It will not only be close to popular shopping malls like Jem and JCube, but also near the International Business Park, and the Jurong East Bus Terminal and MRT station.

In a media statement on Thursday, Resorts World Sentosa said Genting Hotel Jurong will be a "stunning lakeside destination for business and leisure" that will infuse new energy and vibrancy into the thriving business and lifestyle hub.

The soft opening on April 30 will be followed by a grand opening slated for May 27, 2015.

Mr Chow Keng Hai, Vice President of Rooms, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), said: "Genting Hotel Jurong will boost RWS' room inventory significantly and forms part of our business strategy to drive greater visitorship to RWS.

"It also allows us to be part of the exciting transformation that is taking place at the Jurong Lake District. The Singapore government's development plans to revitalise the area into a stunning lakeside destination for business and leisure, bode well for Genting Hotel Jurong.
"Designed for both leisure and business travellers, we are confident that this functional and eco-friendly hotel will continue to garner the enthusiastic interest that it has received from the corporates situated in the vicinity so far."

According to its statement, the hotel features a pillar-less ballroom spanning 426.6 square metres with a capacity of up to 300 guests.
Genting Hotel Jurong has also incorporated the theme of "a hotel in a garden" into its design, featuring a roof-top garden and sky terrace that will offer views of the Jurong Lake District.

As part of the hotel's green efforts, a rainwater collection system has been implemented to reduce water consumption for irrigation purposes.

Genting Hotel Jurong is a 15-minute drive from the Tuas Checkpoint, a 25-minute drive from RWS and a 40-minute drive from Changi Airport.

Hotel guests can enjoy a complimentary 24-hour shuttle bus that runs continually between the Genting Hotel Jurong and RWS.

I propose this brand new hotel be named Lee Kuan Yew Genting Hotel.

This will help Malaysians who arrive by the thousands everyday via Tuas causeway to remember John Tan & zerooo's father Lee Kuan Yew.

Just book the room for one night lah. :p

It has been a long while since Jurong has its first Hotel. It is clear that the government is making Jurong Lake District a jewel in the West. Genting Hotel now ... but who knows .. next to come could be a theme park in the lake district.
