The NEP policy was started to help lift Malays up so that they could compete with Indians and Chinese. It was always based on ethnicity, not religion.

Which is why the data is so screwed up. Sinkies + PR = Citizens. When they said citizens employment rate goes up, you cannot question whether it was Sinkies employment rate goes up or PR. Otherwise Hum Kah Chan will said you have "questionable motives".

Not true if you're talking pure bred Indians. If you're talking about DKK (mixed Malay-Indian parentage), yes.

I know many (pure) Indian Muslims in Singapore who go to Indian mosques, learn Tamil as mother tongue in school and can't speak a word of Malay (their parents may speak some pasar melayu if they're 2nd or 3rd gen Singaporeans). Even the prata guy at my food court speaks very crude Malay.
