She was reminding her students that if they needed to get an abortion, they should get a medical certificate or a letter from their parents, unlike students from neighbourhood schools.

CJC itself isn't that great a school. Does it still have the reputation about high abortion rates? Any self respecting student would study in other junior colleges like RJC or Hwa Chong or NJC.

One of Catholic Junior College (CJC)’s vice principals caused an online outrage among the school’s second-year students after allegedly making remarks about neighbourhood school students that were later deemed by the school to be “not appropriate”.

Mrs Yue-Chang Teck Hui, who oversees academics at the school, made the comment in passing on Tuesday, Aug. 7, while addressing the JC2 students about the importance of regular school attendance and self-responsibility.
An audio recording of her speech sent to us by a reader captured Yue-Chang saying “… a lot of their families are in a mess”, although it is not clear from the recording who she was referring to exactly.

I have said it many times before, the smartest do not end up as school teachers .
She does not even realise that she has just described the 70% and almost all HDB dwellers .
The best part is that Mr Ang Wei Neng, a member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education, told The Straits Times: "I am sure she (Mrs Yue-Chang) meant well for the CJC students".
I'm sure they also meant well when increasing GST and water prices (only30%) and making the default payout age for the Retirement Sum at 70 unless you elect to do so earlier.
TCJ also meant well when he said local old folks carry cardboards for exercise-he forgot to mention PAP MP and Ministers play golf (many at SICC/Sentosa/Tanah Merah) for their exercise

We now have about 32,000 education officers, an increase of 4,000 from five years ago, and 2,200 Allied Educators under the Allied Educator Scheme that was started in 2009.
Since the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST) started in 2011, almost 300 learning communities have been established for teachers to learn from each other within and across schools, providing various platforms where teachers can expand their repertoire of strategies to enrich their students’ learning, and learn from each other as well as experienced practitioners and partners.
ENCOURAGING LEARNING AND INNOVATION ACROSS SCHOOLS

Well said. Low SES schools are one thing.... trailer park trash is another. In the past...hawker sons, taxi drivers sons etc all made it in life bcos values were inculcated into families. There were poor but responsible families. Now thanks to the end of the stop at 2 n rise n support of the trailer park trash, the irresponsible n unworthy are breeding n social problems are rising. All these irresponsibilities spreads through to society. When these kids grow up. Wat u think will happen? They be salt of the earth?
